“So a half white half hispanic man is called white, but a half white half black man is called black? Couldn't we stop making this about race.
I was glad to see Matthews acknowledging and standing up on the racial profiling issue no matter what the race. He also did this recently when comparing the IRS targeting of the tea party to targeting Arabs at the airport. Matthews is consistent on the profiling issue. Good for him.
I do think his apology from all white people is a little bit absurd though. Think about how many white children are out there who had nothing to do with this and probably are not even paying attention to it. But hey, good thing he apologized for them anyways. Because people like my 7 year old niece are really sorry for other peoples actions and other peoples racism. Unless children don't count as people.
Next time he should not speak for the entire race. Nobody should no matter what the race. I bet there are plenty of actual white racists out there who are not sorry at all but Matthews says they are so they must be.”
“I know the origins are pagan but since the word pagan is defined as:
A person holding Religious Beliefs other than those of the main world religions. (according to google)
That would mean that the pagan tradition is part of the pagan religion. So if atheists are not practicing religion then why would they put up a tree to celebrate.
I guess it all comes down to what you define an atheist as. if you define atheist only as a person who doesn't believe in a God(despite following religious traditions) then it would be OK, but it seems like a thin line to me to follow an old pagan religious tradition and call yourself an atheist at the same time. (not saying that you are an atheist)”

“This isn't hypothetical, there are atheists who decorate for the holidays. Are you saying atheists "actually believe" in a religion in order to do this? That's just not the case at all.”
“Alcohol is perfectly legal but I don't see EMT's rescuing people while smashed, surgeons cutting you while drunk, or electricians wiring your house while stumbling around. Just because it is legalized doesn't mean everyone is going to go to work high.”
“Legalize it not just for medical use. This is America. The land of the free. Its insane that not even adults in their own homes can use the stuff. Supposed to be the king of your own castle but you cant even take certain plants into your own body.
More people are dying in the drug violence than are dying in the middle east wars. Then there is the people who die because they can't use the medicine on top of that. Ridiculous”

“Not to mention those dying because of prescription drugs.”

“Yes, I forgot who said it first but the government should NEVER get into the business of protecting the citizens from their own stupidity!”
“I am not a regular watcher of tosh.0 but i did recently watch one of his stand ups on netflix called completely serious. (it was awesome!)
I don't think he was inciting rape. If you heckle a comedian its fair game to embarrass you. You didn't like the joke? Then don't laugh. If everyone at the show didn't laugh, he probably wouldn't tell that joke again.
He has a joke something like... Sex is like broccoli, if your forced to eat it when your young your not going to like it when your older. Was he inciting child molestation? NO he is a comedian in a comedy club telling jokes. Leave if you don't like it. I bet she didn't apologize for heckling, at least he apologized to her.
If you wanna see a comedian take it too far on a heckler watch Bill Hicks (my favorite comedian) heres the link
“it's clear that you don't understand how terrifying it is to be raped. how something like 1 in 3 women are survivors of sexual assault. and how sickening it is to realize that an entire room of people thinks that violating you is a joke.”
“Science says the first people came from Africa and moved from there, so their skin was probably black first and changed when they moved to the colder climates. That makes this "church of gods chosen" silly.
Atleast after looking at the comments its plain to see that most people agree. whether your black or white, christian or not, these people in the article are twisted. Yet at the same time they have the right to believe what they wish as long as they don't hurt other people.
as for me. I dont see why god would bother creating separate races to have a chosen one.”
“I could be wrong here but im pretty sure that Ron Paul wants a new currency to compete with the dollar, not a return to the gold standard. This way if the original dollar devalued due to the fed then the competition dollar could still be the one used.”

“I think you're right about Paul's position. The dollar is our national currency and since Nixon it has not been backed by gold. However, gold is without question a global currency. Whether gold is recognized as an official US currency or not, gold is clearly money in spite of Berneke may babble to the contrary.
Think about it. If gold isn't money, why do central banks all over the world try to build bigger and bigger stashes of the stuff? The underlying problem in all this is the FED is owned by a handful of private banks that long, long ago were governed by ther USA's national interest. Not any longer. Today those once national banks have morphed into international banks and they obviously ultimately serve international interests, not the USA interests.
Here's an interesting proposal. The FED is said to control about 8,300 tons of US government gold. If gold isn't really money, why don't we just divide it up give each US citizen an equal share of it. After all, that 8,300 tons of gold does belong to the citizens of the United States. Doesn't it? Well, no, that's not quite true. My understanding is that the FED has the ultimate control of it, thanks to a series of very quiet actions over the years by our trusted elected representatives in Congress. Somebody please convince me that I'm wrong! Otherwise, rest assured that the FED intends to keep a very tight rein on what was once our gold.”
