How the Media and the GOP Turn Lies Into Zombie Lies: A Health Care Case Study

Commented Nov 24, 2009 at 02:06:03 in Politics

“Pity the poor little girl who finally got a job as an anchor, even a small station in CO, and suddenly, people are accusing her of not knowing how to be a real journalist (tho they don't exist at the local tv level) and what's she supposed to do?... the producer tells her what stories will be aired, she hopes she has time enough to rehearse the teleprompter so she won't stumble over strange words and on top of that, she does her own makeup and now she is supposed to know the details about the most important health coverage issue to face the American public?

She is really good at firemen rescue a cat from a tree story, tho.

Local tv news is a joke. And since AP supplies most of the news copy, any wonder that pro-business and anti-Dem stories seem to head the newscasts?

I hope you all are following all this and noticing what's happening in your own area.”

“"some unsuspecting turkey is about to have a fistful of gravy shoved deep into his ass."

Well, to each his own, but I usually put the gravy on potatoes.... besides it's too hard to get a fistful of gravy to do anything but squirt out all over the napkins...

Happy Turkey day, anyway.

How the Media's Proud Know-Nothingism Helped Create the American Idiocracy

“Excellent piece, Mr Sirota.

I hope someone makes sure those two "journalists" read it. I plan to email a copy to them, tho that is no guarantee they will see it.”

“"Because as if you ever needed proof that 26 percent of America -- that would be one out of every four people you see walking down the street, plus someone else's right ankle -- is totally bat-guano out-of-their-freakin'-minds crazy, check out this new poll just out:"

That pretty much sums it up for me!!!”

He is now is a perfect position to go on a national tour, claiming the the media is out to get him.
Priceless, indeed.”

Liberal Elitism? No. Some People Are, Sadly, Stupid

Commented Nov 12, 2009 at 21:22:41 in Politics

“Thanks for voicing what I was thinking when I read Elks' post this morning. Corporate media likes to segment people cause it makes for easier writing for the day's conflict. When you actually talk to people, around the country, they are invariably more complicated and more nuanced than Mr Elks seems to notice.

I will fight to my last breath to keep someone like Palin from winning an election ( no real fear here) but newsreader-friendly population contructs are fiction... much like Mr Elks' thinking, in my opinion.”

“My business. Real Estate Appraising. New Gov't regulations have helped the Appraisal Management business which act a a middleman between appraisers and the banks. This legislation was pushed through by Andrew Cumo. The Management companies now take 50% of our fee. The new regulations forbid mortgage brokers from communication with the people they employ. The majority of appraisers are thinking of quiting. Our fees are now going to non licensed companies, many are owned by the banks themselves. Meanwhile , new regulations have made it very difficult for new people to enter the field so the average age of an appraiser is now close to 60. Its all screwed up.”

“Good. Chevron just raised my gas card (a GE Financial product) interest rate to 27%. Repeat: 27%

That's greed, price gouging, usury all wrapped up in one bundle. Of course, I pay off the balance (if there is one) every month so I don't pay them any interest.

This after another year of record profits!!! The credit card industry is totally out of control and the whores in congress are doing nothing!!!”

“"Though I and most Republicans favor limiting governments role in the everyday lives of Americans.."

Yes, we have a shining example of limiting govt: the Wall Street fiasco and the bank failures. Goverment regulators were prevented from doing their jobs, FDA food inspectors were handcuffed by Repub congress and there were more serious food recalls under Bush than I can ever recall, And of course, Repubs think that govt does belong in the bedroom and marriage chapels. So your little pious posturing has no credibilty with me.”
