“All that means is that they go in with guns firing before anyone has a chance to pull their guns out. After all, someone recently went into a police station and shot the place up. I don't believe that was a gun-free zone.”
“I'm curious, what kind of verification do you need to get a photo ID? A birth certificate doesn't have anything on it that would identify an adult. I had to get a copy of my birth certificate recently and all I had to do was call the department that issues them in the state that I was born. Sent them the money and they sent me the certified copy of my birth certificate. Would it be possible to get someone else's birth certificate? I don't know.
How long is a photo ID good for. I worked for a company that required everyone to wear badges with their photo and security clearance level on it. Most people didn't look anything like the photos on their badges. They had gained or lost weight, lost hair or colored it, or it had turned grey, had a face full of wrinkles now but not in the photo, men sometimes had a beard or mustache in the photo but not in real life.”

“When I got my drivers license I had to have my birth certificate. I had to state where I was born and provide my dads name and my mothers maiden name”

“There is no picture on a birth certificate so the authorities in Mississippi wouldn't be able to read it.”
“Does he require potential customers to fill out a questionnaire about their lifestyle, religious beliefs or non-beliefs before he takes an order? If he doesn't, how does he know if he hasn't already violated his religious beliefs in previous transactions? How can he be sure he hasn't already prepared wedding cakes for gay weddings or for adulterers?”
“What if a person in the restaurant had yelled "robbers, everyone get down or get out" when they walked in with their weapons? Is it not possible that someone in the restaurant with a concealed gun might have started shooting to stop the "robbery".”

“It could happen, you never how someone could react. I find it so funny how many of these people are saying "I'm never eating here again!"
They probably never ate there in the first place.”
“How do you know he abandoned her? Maybe his job didn't offer health insurance. Maybe he had been injured in a car wreck and was unable to work. I knew a woman whose husband was left a quadriplegic by a hit and run driver. He had made enough money to support the family nicely and she didn't have to work. Then, she had to get a job that paid enough to pay the bills and cover child care because even though he was home, he was unable to care for the kids (2 under 6 years of age). She said that at times she wished he had been killed because then she would have had the proceeds from his life insurance to use to get started. Now she had to earn enough to pay all the bills, plus pay for home health care for him once his health insurance maxed out (which didn't take long).”

“I guess you missed the first line of the article:
"Armanda Legros, a single mother in Queens, New York,.."
No mention of husband unable to work or out of work, no mention of boyfriend not being able to help her because of lack of work, ...
Just that she was a single mom. Why isn't the guy who assisted in her becoming pregnant held accountable to help her?
But then, you would rather forget about the guy who donated 50% of the DNA to her pregnancy”
“Employers won't have anyone to purchase their products if there aren't people (employees) who make enough money to buy them. No matter how good your product is, if no one can afford it, you aren't going to be able to sell it.”
“A hundred years ago, no one could tell in advance that tornados would develop and in what area. Now, they can tell hours in advance that conditions are such that there will be tornados and they can track them so you know if you are in the path of one or not. Also, 300 or more people could not fly in one plane from continent to continent.”

“You will note that a hundred years ago as well as today, there is not anything that we can do about tornados.”
“When your dad started working, the minimum wage was higher in relation to cost of living than it is now, college tuition was also cheaper in relation to cost of living. I know this because I also grew up in that era. College tuition at a large state university was about $10 a credit hour -- at that same college now, it is about $300 an hour.
By the way, I don't believe god has any money, so almost everyone has more.”
“Then why are there thousands of kids waiting to be adopted? In Oklahoma there are over 7,000 awaiting adoption. Thousands who have waited to be adopted age out of foster care at age 18 and are then on their own with no family or support.”

“But who is going to take care of the other kids while she has the baby? Who is going to reimburse her for maternity leave (which is unpaid)? Who is going to pay for the pre-natal care and hospital time when she has the baby?”
Mick Styles on May 15, 2014 at 19:10:07
“If she doesn't want to be responsible for her actions there are plenty of childless couples who would take her baby and pay all expenses.”
“"just like Surfer Dude was, who by the way has now stopped collecting food stamps as his band has taken off and he is now a professional musician."
That's just the way food stamps are supposed to work. I guess the conservatives aren't happy because he didn't just get and stay in a minimum wage job for life. I think it was Steve Jobs who also used food stamps when he was first getting started developing a computer system.”
“Can you name any process that is 100% perfect? Mistakes are made on birth certificates, credit reports, etc., but that doesn't mean we eliminate them.”

“So if you owned a store and realized that some level of theft is inevitable, you wouldn't implement loss prevention measures anyway? In the same way, voter fraud is not a significant problem but you take reasonable steps to prevent it anyway.”
“And if you think your taxes are too high, you can lower them by taking a lower paying job. Try something like working as a cashier or stocker at Walmart and earn around $20,000 a year and see your tax bill go down.”

“Actually, it goes negative. With standard deductions and earned income credits, most that make this kind of money are further subsidized by Federal and State Governments. And to reiterate, this land is still full of opportunity, but opportunity does not come to you. You have to find it.”

“Yes, you did have to worry about losing it. Some insurance companies found reasons for cancelling when you got seriously ill. Like having acne as a teenager was a precondition of cancer.”

“Well been with the same company over 25 years and never a question about a bill. Just cut the chech every feb 1 for the complate year and never worry about it at all. So don't know about other We as a family never had one problem and onl7y purchased what we needed and they paid the complete bill over 2 Mil for the wifes cancer because we paid the little extra for no cap all of these years. and made the necessary changes as the family changed. That is why all of my children had their own policies the day they turned 19 years of age very cheap”
“"The inferior position women find themselves in via-a-vis men in terms of pay and opportunity is actually strength and character building and makes women work harder for the same thing and so they will then be better at it than men and they will ultimately achieve parity, or even surpass, men."
By this reasoning, if men were paid less then women and not given the same opportunity, then they would work harder. With both men and women working hard, just think what a wonderful world we could have.”
“Depends on where you lived. It was approx. 3 miles to the nearest grocery store in Oklahoma City vs. 3 miles to one in Edmond. In north Oklahoma City, it is difficult to determine which city you live in. You can have an Edmond post office address, but live in Oklahoma City. You can also live in Oklahoma City, but be in an Edmond school district.”
“Then why didn't Oklahoma City's economy fall apart several years ago when they raised their sales tax well above that of the surrounding suburbs and towns. A majority of people in north Oklahoma City didn't drive a couple extra miles to Edmond to shop and save money by paying a much lower sales tax.”
Tmoney5437 on Apr 15, 2014 at 14:43:15
“because sales taxes are a good way to tax people. And most purchases are not large enough to justify the gas money. But I doubt any car dealerships in Oklahoma City were happy with that decision. A good bet Car lots got an exemption. I will check that out.”
“The republicans are afraid that if a city did raise the minimum wage and then it prospered because more people had money to buy from the local economy and companies could attract a higher level of employee and have more employee loyalty. Then all their arguments for keeping people at the bottom and blaming them for being poor would fall apart.”

“He also missed out on 25 years of paying into social security so he won't receive any social security or Medicaid. He didn't have a chance to set up an IRA or 401k or even save any money for retirement for 25 years. He not only needs income now since he missed 25 years of working up to a higher pay scale, but he needs retirement money.”
