“I agree that desalination is one option which should be explored but there is a problem with the byproduct of that - tons and tons of dried, extracted salt mounds with nowhere to go. The have that problem in Saudi Arabia where desalination has been mainstream for 30 years....”

“This makes me wonder why, if the world has such an overstock of salt , they still evaporate it or mine it in a variety of locations?”
“This may have been suggested earlier, but I just logged in and don't have time to read 2,200 comments.....
How about building some water supply pipelines originating from the east coast, harvesting some of our rainwater, piping it to the west?? God knows we'd be glad to donate some of it to our west coast neighbors.”

“That's an excellent idea. It might be less costly to build a pipeline from Washington through Oregon. The problem is the money it would cost, as shipping water is much less profitable than shipping tar sands. Hopefully our Government can right itself and initiate such projects.”

“It only needs to start at Cairo, the mouth of the Ohio River. That's eastern water, and a lot of it. I would think everything has a price, including east coast water.”

“How about they use their water more wisely? Leave water in it's water shed.”
“Good idea. I was also thinking why not build more huge reservoirs like they did in Northern CA to collect rainwater when it does rain and/or snow runnoff for those western states which have tons of snow every winter? The certainly have the space.”

“I think you're overestimating the water capacity of Northern California.
Hardly any water makes it to the delta, so what's the use of more reservoirs.”
“homosexuality is an innate genetic trait that we're born with, not a behavioral issue. Your comment only shows the ignorance and prejudice prevalent in the bible belt states. Do some reading/research before you mouth off.... Education opens up a whole new world. Why don't you make an effort to explore it. It just might give you a crumb of credibility.”

“Oh, well... since you've so wonderfully defended your position with numerous links...”
“So by that logic, I guess it means that you are in favor marriage bans on couples who choose not to have children, can't have children due to infertility, or older couples who marry but will never have children together? Tired, weak argument. Progress marches on whether you like it or not.”
“Good! I was wondering what was taking so long after the scotus ruling....LOL
But seriously, I'd like to see suits filed immediately all the key 'swing' states first, followed by more suits in the bible belt states with same sex marriage bans in their constitutions...And let's also revive ENDA while we're at it.”
“I don't remember reading any comments by progressives anywhere on this thread that the soctus was anything but what you described. We know better. Only one justice sided with the progressives on this decision, Anthony Kennedy who is, for all intents and purposes, a very conservative justice who sides with the gop 1 percenters most of the time, but he has the tendency to be the swing vote in the scotus once in awhile, and this was just one of those cases. So our viewpoint on scotus has not changed.”

“Did you even bother to read my post? I clearly said Progressive posts from "yesterday" concerning their ruling on the voting rights case?
As for your flimsy defense:
Interesting that you didn't bother to mention the makeup of the majority on today's Prop 8 case.
Interesting that you didn't bother to mention the makeup of the majority on Monday's Affirmative Action case.
Interesting that you didn't bother to mention the makeup of the majority on the ObamaCare case.
Interesting that you didn't bother to mention the makeup of the majority on the Citizens United case.
So when you really do look at their body of decisions, which you obviously haven't done, then you will see that you really don't know better, and that this court is actually all over the place.”
