O'Reilly Ambushes Elementary School For 'War On Christmas' (VIDEO)

O'Reilly Ambushes Elementary School For 'War On Christmas' (VIDEO)

Commented Dec 07, 2009 at 06:43:13 in Media

“Like Easter Christmas is an important religious holiday for me.
But I don’t have time for Bill O’Reilly’s shelale war on the free market’s free speech use of the word holiday to sell as many marked down holiday sweaters to as many people as they can in the biggest shopping season of the year. And I don’t have time for Glenn Beck’s Christmas sweater.
Beck and O'Reilly are opinion entrepreneurs - the inventory is yelling and tears.
It’s the holiday’s and business is good for them: low overhead, spoken inventory, and a huge profit.
Just speaking for myself, I am grateful for the freedom of living in a secular society. It is distasteful, often distasteful, but that is part of the cost.

No, Secular does not mean non religious. Actually it is the opposite; secular means that we get to be more religious – without fear of reprisals. My Christmas and my Easter are not rolled out for sale, put on sale, marked down and then given over to merchandise returns.
What makes us free is that our citizens can only shout (or cry) about heresy. And yell (and cry) they do. Money, power and influence are their rewards. My guess is that Bill O’Reilly chose to roll out his holiday scolding about our secular freedoms, because even in what may be the worst holiday shopping season since WWII, he needs the money.”

“With full respect to your comment.
She means something else.
She uses, or misuses, the word to mean something like the pop fantasy of a rogue cop. The script on this is the rogue cop is someone who is that rare person who is in the minority but right, gut right, and fro all but lost and true reasons needs to bust free of laws put in place by elites who don’t know what is real America - and this is the brave person to take action and save our real values.
How many movies and TV shows have we seen along these lines since 1960?
She is exciting that meme.”

“Dismissers beware.
She has resigned her governor’s job to work full time to be at the center of national media attention. She has hired professional management. And she is running a campaign, building an organization. She has been redesigned to look the same.
Clearly her narrative is that she ready, the same and worthy; more than ready, still the same, and perfectly worthy of running for the highest office in the land.
In her own words she has a higher calling. And in many people's opinion and especially those in her party she is the leading contender for the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination.
She is speaking to an organization of Washington-based journalists: the Gridiron Club where she is joking only about her critics.
She means business.”

how long, oh lord, how long?!? this reminds me of when bush "won" his second term and we knew we had four years more of him ahead. but we have no idea how long sarah will fester in the spotlight! what angers me is all the media attention wasted on her when there are so many more important things happening in this world. i wish she would pack up her kids and go home!”

maryyooch replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 10:14:01

“She will never get elected to high office. Just wait until someone really, truly starts to look into her past. She has too many skeletons in her closet.
And....I think a lot of people learned the hard way after voting for Bush. At the very least, Bush didn't quit all of his jobs and he did get an education.
I don't know about the little tea baggin fools, but most people want someone with a brain for President.”

SimJack replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 10:03:42

“She may mean business but the product stinks. That's fine if you have a monopoly but she doesn't. As fractious as the republican party is right now, several potential candidates will emerge and when the time comes she will be exposed for what she is and they will shred her using her own incompetency, ignorance and inexperience. Pros like Romney, Jeb Bush or Gingrich would toy with her the way a feral cat toys with a mouse before devouring it. My prediction if she runs - she will drop out in the middle of the primaries.”

swimbiker replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 09:54:50

“I have done business in the southern Balkans states, Burma, Indonesia, China, Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine, where corruption is high. In some cases it is beyond corruption. It is outright theft, and there is danger if you are foolish enough to try to work around the system. I know about business practices in Russia and Nigeria though not through direct experience. Thuggery and Corruption has many countries in a choke hold. Do you know about Somalia?
My friend, I can tell you that low levels of corruption are the exception in the world. Hong Kong has one of the lowest on the planet.
In many places it is considered part of doing business.
Is Brazil corrupt? Yes.
Is Brazil unique in the world or even the most extreme? No.

“It was Joe Stalin who launched the myth that Hitler had escaped and was alive. Better for Joe that Adolf was alive.
Now George Bush is in semi whatever you call it, and his partner in war still in hiding.

9 11 was first and foremost an economic attack. We know what George Bush did because we lived it. We can know and should look really hard at what he was doing with money issues - the surplus, the tax restructuring, further deregulation of the financial markets and international money transfers - before the attacks. That was his presidency pre 9 11. It is hard to remember what he was doing before the nation was hit.
It is not the war it is the war powers. They don’t fight and their kind don’t fight. Valery Plame was destroyed to discredit Joe Wilson when it was thought Wilson believed would get in the way of their chosen war.
Osama bin Laden was not destroyed when it was decided his capture would get in the way of their chosen war. The poster should have read Osama Bin Laden wanted alive.

When the country was drowning there was no air time for the truth. There was a fast closing window to get the war powers. Once the troops were committed and the president war powered there was no possibility to resist his dictates. He truly was the decider. Capturing or killing Osama bin Laden would have meant no Iraq – no war powers”

“Lula is popular. He was democratically elected twice to the Presidency by a great plurality. And he will be stepping down because of term limits. He worked hard for direct elections, something that we do not have in the USA, and he faced prison and torture in so doing. He won. Like every single US politician he will not leave office a poor man. I am not a big fan of Lula and in my eyes perfect he is not. All politicians are corrupt, and he is a politician.
He will leave office as he approaches his70’s, and on balance I think he did very well for his country and by golly he worked.
If people give money voluntarily intending that to go to the poor and the lions share instead goes to enrich church leaders and their lavish life styles then that is A-OK with you: because they did so voluntarily. You have got some set of standards.”

“when people give to the missionary they give "as unto God" and receive their blessing from God, their reward will be in heaven. If the missionary is corrupt (and many are) then God will deal with them. Your arguement is about apples and oranges. I have a disdain for a missionary that does that. But they are giving to God and even if the missionary steals it the people will still receive their blessing. I see nothing wrong with Lula getting all the money he can. That's what the people wanted and by law have to vote even if they don't even know what the issues are.

My comment was not really so much about Lula, it was about the big one world government that is coming, because of the cap and trade. I think God is in control and can take care of the end times. Through peace he shall destroy many is talking about the end time. The destruction will be through money. A big one world government. That is why I hope they pass cap and trade, I believe that will be the tool that destroys the whole economic system that the world seems to worship.”

Lula worked hard as a street vendor and shoeshine boy from age 12 and gave the money to his mom. He entered factory work when he was a teenager and continued to support his family. He worked in the factory for at least 10 years before being elected to a position in the union which is still working. To be sure he did not become rich working on the streets of Sao Paulo or in Factories. No one does. If that were your biography how would you take someone saying you never worked a day in your life? Honestly, what would you say?
I think it would be safe to say that you did not live under the military dictator ship in Brazil. Or under any military dictatorship; so let me tell you that representing the unions was a brave thing to do under the dictatorship and it is still work.”
