“Actually, the prices are not outrageous. Legos have to be manufactured to incredible tolerances for a children's toy - each piece has to fit with pieces that were manufactured 20 years ago, perfectly. The maintenance on the molds that produce these pieces are what accounts for the high cost.”

“Riiiiiight... I'm sorry but $100's of $$$ for a set of legos is indeed, outrageous. What would be the excuse for the prices of the Bionicle line aka Hero Factory? They range from $7 for the tiny set to $50 for the largest one's...they don't have to work with sets from 30 years ago.”
"While we were taking that car chase and showing it to you live, when the guy pulled over and got out of the vehicle, we went on delay.
So, that's why I didn't talk for about 10 seconds. We created a five second delay as if you were to bleep back your DVR five seconds, that's what we did with the picture we were showing you, so that we could see in the studio five seconds before you did, so if anything went horribly wrong, we would be able to cut away from it without subjecting you to it.
And we really messed up. And we're all very sorry. That didn't belong on TV. We took every precaution we knew how to take to keep that from being on TV. And I personally apologize to you that that happened."

“I'm not sure any of this provides evidence that they showcased a violent suicide as self-proclaimed liberal Craig Lechner seems to think. They didn't "showcase" it, and Shep's explanation doesn't prove they did.”
“But that's not what they did. They passed a new tax, and they passed a new tax credit. There is no mandate. If you don't want the tax credit, don't buy the insurance. If you really want to argue that congress doesn't have the right to levy taxes, go for it.”
“Wow. Further proof that Republicans are bad at math. As bad as Obama's approval ratings may be (and they're actually pretty good, all things considered), Romney's are far, far worse. I hope all Republican strategists are looking at numbers as meaningless as these.”

“Gallup always polled correctly during 2008..Obama's win.”
“Disagree. If you check the calorie counts of activities vs. the calorie counts of foods, it is the foods. The foods we eat today (which are largely pre-processed, microwaved meals) are much more calorie dense than the foods your mother used to cook for you. You can run for an hour straight, and not burn off a single Snickers.”
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper
The President has the power to put the Senate in recess. I don't see what the problem is.”

“How sweet it is that Pres. Obama is using the same kind of "technicality" and "loophole" tactic against the GOP Koch blocking masters who are trying to use a "technicality" and "loophole" tactic against him! Revenge is a desert best served cold...”

“That is the one I was thinking of, with respect to established law on whether any POTUS can put the Senate in Recess.”
“The check is before the abuse happens. Scout leaders are now never allowed to be alone with a child - two deep leadership is always required. Which means for any outing, you really need 4 adults - if there is an accident and a trip to the hospital is necessary, 2 go, and 2 stay. There are even separate shower facilities for adults and kids now.”

“I think the boy scout and cub scout is an exceptional organization overall. This type of stuff is horrific. At the same time, I've seen these program be a source of camaraderie and friendship for boys. In an age when boys have a significant achievement gap, program like this is particularly important. I have also seen a great deal of effort made to protect the kids. I understand that problems may exist, but frankly, none of these articles have shown that any of these issue are "recent". They are all from 25 years ago.”
“To tax the rich. Wealth has concentrated dramatically at the top. At no point in American history has some much wealth been controlled by so few. The balance of power is completely out of whack. They'd like to restore some balance.
Unfortunately, that doesn't come across well in a sound bite.”
HR 872 Would remove restrictions on spraying pesticides near water supplies. Because I know I'd rather have pesticides in my drinking water than pay 10 cents more for a bag of potatoes.
HR 910 Would prevent the EPA from regulating carbon dioxide emissions. We get it. You guys think global warming is a massive hoax, just like the moon landing. We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
HR 2018 Would prevent the EPA from making any clean water standards at the Federal level, leaving it all to the states. That would make Virginia a veritable paradise, don't you think? I'm sure all that coal money will have no impact on their environmental regulation, no sir.
HR 1315 Is the Wall Street approved Republican version of the Consumer Protection Agency, which was rejected as completely neutered. Irrelevant, since a competing bill has already passed. Including it here is kinda dishonest, but hey, what do you expect.
HR 1230 Would reverse the freeze on offshore drilling Obama put in place after Deepwater Horizon. See also HR 1231, 1229. You guys really want to start drilling offshore again.
HR 2021 Would remove restrictions on air pollution for off shore drilling rigs in the arctic. More with the oil again.
HR 1938 Would force through a pipeline. More oil.
So - which one of these bills are going to create the MILLIONS of jobs we need right now?”
