“um...this article doesn't MENTION the emails or the idea of anything being faked, so you might want to straighten out the headline. But I love all the comments about 'deniers', which prove those people didn't bother to read the article...priceless!!

And you gotta love the pithy treatise by high-school dropout Helena Christensen. I guess it's better than the other stuff she's said: [Christensen also famously once said, when asked if normal girls would feel comfortable in her new clothing line, "I don't care. I have no clue. 1) If he rams CO2 reduction down our throats in a way that costs the middle-class taxpayer, well...ANYTHING...he's toast. Only 35% of Americans think AGW is a serious problem, and that was before Climategate.

2) If he fails to pass healthcare reform, he's toast. If he passes it without a public option, his own party will turn against him (but eventually return for the election).

3) If the wars get worse, or if there's any kind of terrorist attack, he's toast.

4) if the economy hits another big bump, which might happen w/credit card dept, commercial real estate, he's toast.

I think the economy & jobs will get better, so that'll work for him. But overall, there are a lot more things that are working against people in the middle/middle-right continuing to support him”

Commented Dec 03, 2009 at 12:38:32 in Politics

“Why on earth is everyone so eager to put 100% of the blame on the SS and zero on Desiree Rogers & the WH staff?

Everyone knows Michelle Obama, Valerie Jarrett & Desiree Rogers are like sisters...that's OK, I have no problem with their qualifications (which are quite good) or the fact they got their jobs thru that closeness.

But I have a HUGE problem with the (overall) dedicated, professional Secret Service is being forced to take ALL the heat for this when it's clear as day that once the Salahis got to the registration desk, it was the Social staff & their safeguards that failed...more than once...to stop them.

Because Michelle & Valerie are so set on protecting their BFF Desiree, this investigation is/will inherently flawed & biased. People who are not at fault (and some who should) at SS will have their careers & lives shattered so that Desiree doesn't have to face the consequences of her/her staff's bungling. It doesn't matter if Desiree herself was at the table checking names or not...SHE RUNS THE DEPARTMENT...this is all on her!”

---------------
"Richard Berman has been a regular front man for business and industry in campaigns
against consumer safety and environmental groups. Through his public affairs firm, Berman
and Company, Berman has fought unions, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, PETA and other
watchdog groups in their efforts to raise awareness about obesity, the minimum wage, the
dangers of smoking, mad cow disease, drunk driving, and other causes. Berman runs at
least 21 industry-funded front groups and projects, such as the Center for Union Facts

Each year, Berman, using his front groups to spread misinformation, spends millions of
dollars distracting the public with misleading ads.

As a result of his largesse, in 2006, Richard Berman used $2,000,000 in cash to buy this

“Peta's a bit militant at times but I'll tell you the truth, I never knew that Universities buy shelter animals to use in experiments. I also never imagined how pervasive this practice is STILL in the US. They don't do that anymore in Europe as that has been banned. Peta succeeds in bringing many of these issues to the forefront where they otherwise would not be heard of, and that's what these research companies are afraid of. USDA is in cahoots w/them so they'll protect their corporate masters. We should be discussing ways in which we can conduct research without using chimps, dogs and cats, etc.. But that discussion somehow gets lost in the theatrics.”

Balzac replied on Dec 03, 2009 at 00:09:12

“Sorry Mogatu. You're wrong if they're paying legal fees, that is not funding terrorism, it's funding the legal defense of eco-anarchists. Most of these so-called eco-terrorists are actually anarchists who destroy property. Ted Kazinsky, the "Unibomber" was a bonafide eco-terrorist.

Most of the others have not met the criteria. Some of these groups have become radical with despair over the years because of things like the French government blowing up a Green Peace boat, killing a person, whalers endangering the lives of Green Peace, polluters dropping 50 gallon drums of toxins on Green Peace in their little boats, loggers cutting down trees with hippies in them and such.

So we see some radicalized Earth First, Monkey Wrench Gang - inspired direct action guys who do not meet the definition of a bonafide "terrorist" unless they're trying to kill people or they're indifferent to the lives of people in their property destruction. Ted Kazinsky was an eco-terrorist. I'm not sure if I've seen another person convicted who meets the definition of a environmentally-obsessed terrorist but I haven't been following the scene closely. PETA is not a terrorist organization, but a USDA bureaucrat has outed themself as a clown-ass-hat.”
