“Bravo! The Spanish Inquisition...the Crusades...women's repression...all examples of religion gone awry.”

“Discussing theology and belief systems is like a dog chasing it's tail, it goes nowhere. There is always justification using a bible scripture or some other logic. The only effort that seems worthwhile is trying to keep religion out of our schools and gov. institutions. There is a 10 comm. monument on our courthouse lawn. I have not insisted on an atheist billboard there. They just won't quit. So I belong and donate to the FREEDOM FROM RELIGION FOUNDATION and AMERICAN ATHEISTS. It seems like the only thing to do.”

“Very few women look good without a little makeup, be it professionally or self applied. I find it interesting that a lovely woman such a Scarlett can't be admired and celebrated simply because she's well put together AS WELL AS smart and talented, without someone saying, "Yes, but... (fill in the blank...she's had work done, she's got a glam squad, it's the way she's photographed, etc., etc.)" She is in a business where looking one's best is a big part of it. She's doing her job...deal.”

“Who's deemed the "opponent" by these fiends? A fellow errant gay or the whacked out Tea Partier idiot responsible for this post? Hide your hands, man! Please tell me you are not serious. I live in this City, dear heart. There are no nefarious rings of any sort...straight or gay. Just a lot of hills, beautiful bridges, great restaurants, interesting history, overpriced rents and open-minded citizens who accept people for who they are. Tolerence...it's really quite a lovely thing. You should try it.”

“Let me rephrase...Booker has WAYYYYY more experience than Obama had to be President. Personally, I believe he is qualified regardless of color. Obama has NOT been an effective leader and we do not know where he stands on things. He's shufflin Ted Kennedy's health care plan down our throats, and I could go on and on.

BTW, Booker is MORE qualified than Ryan, Paul, or Moose to be pres too. I think Newark is twice the size of Alaska!”

“Aberration? I think not. I think the true aberration is hating on a lifestyle you don't even try to understand. How about this: If we are all made in God's image, shouldn't it be true that God is part male, part female, part white, part black, part Asian, part middle-eastern, part straight and part gay? Now, please put down the Bible (nice book, I like it, I believe in the Big Guy and I believe He loves and accepts ALL his children without judgment) and read the Constitution of the United States of America. Second-class citizenship is a big no-no.”

My heart goes out to Michelle Knight and I totally believe her and her claims of miscarriages at the hands of this monster, but in order to prosecute they have to have concrete evidence. It's what our system is based on...you can't just go by hearsay, it would cause total chaos. The system works (Jodi Arias!)...let the criminal justice system do what they do best. This guy will never see the light of day and will pay in dearly for his horrific crime against these young women.”

She is a blight on humanity. Some human life just isn't all that precious.”

But if you're concerned about dimes, consider this fact, its WAY more expensive on death row, and she would literally be treated BETTER on death row. She would be miserable sitting in prison till she gets old. That's why she should get LIFE, no parole, ever.”

Extremely "invasive" when the survivors woke up in the hospital and realized they no longer had limbs. The police did not know what type of weapons this man had or how he intended to use them. What were they supposed to do...wait and see if he had a sudden change of heart? Let's think more about the rights of the victims rather than those of the alleged perpetrators. Really, Laura Frick? “Are you a good person? Are you kind? Are you fair to others? Are you a good parent and/or spouse? Do you vote? Do you contribute to charities and your community? Being a decent human being has precedence over appearance. Yes, having a weight problem is frustrating, I know from personal experience, but it certainly doesn't define your character. It's good to maintain one's weight for health reasons, but, dear Lord, you are beating yourself up over this! Don't let the celebrity obsession with Size 00 make you feel unworthy. Keep yourself well-groomed, stylish and healthy. If you don't feel good about yourself as you are now, you won't EVER feel good about yourself no matter what weight you are. This Samantha woman is poison...don't listen to her.”

“sfbelle and mumbles, I think you misunderstood my point. It's not vanity, or appearance, or my subscribing to society's ideals of beauty. I'm not beating myself up because I think I look fat. We all have free will, and are responsible for our choices and behaviors. In my case, the fact that I let something as avoidable as overeating and laziness override common sense and self-control...is weakness and a major fail. I should have mentioned that I am doing something about it too.”

“Yes, let's save those babies. That is until the mother starts crowning and the little critter comes into the world. Then let's cut back on programs for child welfare (because you know these people will just start spittin' 'em out so they can get more $$$ from the government), education programs and health care. Let them suffer...their mothers were probably just nasty women who'd open their legs for a can of lite beer anyway. Then when they are just about 18, let's send 'em to war and get them maimed or killed. Jesus would approve of that I'm sure. God Lord, people. If you don't want to have an abortion, don't. But don't decide that for ME or any other woman. It's a CHOICE and America has confirmed that in the last election. At least President Obama was trying to save lives with this bill. It was far from perfect but it was a start. Get over the abortion issue...it is NOT going to change.”

“No one knocked on Taylor Swift's door one day and said, "Hey, I hear you can sing and write songs. Guess what, you're now famous!" This is a goal Swift worked for. Guess what, honey... part of being in the public eye is taking criticism! Not everyone is going to like you. But you have fans that do. Concentrate on them! I don't think what they (Fey and Poehler) said was bad or bullying...it was the satirical type of comedy for which they are famous. That's why they were up on the stage hosting the Golden Globes...to give what might be a boring awards show some "edge." Lighten up, Taylor Swift.”

“So, I'm sure you feel that women who dress in a provocative manner "ask for it" when they are raped? Maybe we women shouId wear berkas? I am quite sure there are those who do lie (I saw that show on Katie Couric as well), but the percentage is no doubt quite small compared to the MANY whose lives have been forever sullied by these abusers. Children are too young to have the life tools to deal with abuse...be it mental, physical or sexual. They are usually threatened and manipulated in the most heinous ways. Sometimes the memories of these horrific acts are repressed and manifest themselves in other ways: drug/alcohol abuse, nymphomania, etc. I agree with those who think that Julianne should identify her abuser...especially if he/she is still teaching children. Jerry Sandusky and Penn State is a good example of why the abused should speak out and LOUD.”

Does that mean Hate trumps Love? I refuse to believe that. The God I believe in loves all his children equally. So, get a grip, One Million Moms...Ellen is a good, decent human being. Mitt Romney: Obama Won With 'Gifts' To Blacks, Hispanics, Young Voters

Commented Nov 15, 2012 at 12:24:22 in Politics

“This is the 47% speech all over again. I'm white, over 60, a female past child bearing years and I make over $35K a year. My Social Security/Medicare would probably have not been affected by the Romney/Ryan voucher plan. But I proudly cast my vote for Obama/Biden. Why? Because this man will govern all of the citizens of the US of A. And as a citizen of the world, I do care that all colors and creeds get the same opportunities I have, I do care that young women of child bearing years will have the choice to govern their own bodies as they wish and I know that Obamacare will provide the opportunity for healthy futures for us all. It's not all about the rich white guys anymore. Poor Mitt and the GOP...this is a wonderful country with interesting, diverse people ALL of whom have something to contribute to our society. If you GOP guys could embrace that fact and not be threatened by it, what a wonder world this would be.”
