Say 'No Can,' or Find a Solution?

“I don't think you understood what Uncle is saying. He is standing against the bills that would penalize farmers for decreasing their use of pesticides and artificially produced fertilizers. It sounds like you are in agreement with him, not in a counterpoint position.”

“Limiting GMO, and labeling GMO crops is what I want to see. One facet of GMO research is the creation of food crops that can withstand dosing with Round-up so that fields can be sprayed with the herbicide to kill weeds while the food intended for consumption by humans and animals does not die. Because GMOs are all lumped together as if they were all equal, rules put in place to protect GMO papaya will also allow Monsanto, DuPont, Dow, etc. to grow, test, and sell their GMO crops. I respect Richard Ha and his many innovations and his forward thinking approach to issues confronting the Big Island. Any objections I've expressed are with all due respect.”
