“I always wondered if the gloves were to small to ever fit OJ's hands. Why would you take a really good, great fitting pair of gloves with you to murder someone when you know damned will you aren't going to be wearing them ever again. I figure the gloves were already too tight for him (maybe gotten as a Christmas gift one year and they just never fit his hands) and that's why he decided he could use them and throw out after committing murder. I never, ever understood why the gloves were that damned important to this trial in the first place!”

“You want to know what is making the kids so angry these days. My take on it is that we have decided to coddle each and every one of them from an early age....everyone gets a trophy, can't use red pen---it eats away their self-esteem, everyone has to be equal to everyone else. These kids do not learn how to deal with rejection, so when it's finally thrust upon them at a later age (usually in the teen years), they do not know how to handle it. THEY GET ANGRY. Kids need to know that everyone is different and unique. They all have different talents, learn at different rates. And they need to be taught that not everything in life is fair. With that being said...there is also the issue of video games. Kill someone today, and tomorrow, they reappear right back on the screen. It is not like that in real life. Kids are not being taught right from wrong, good from bad, etc. And don't get me started on the disrespect. Kids are taught that it's o.k. to disrespect people. Of course kids are going out and killing others...they are taught no other way! (This does not mean a blanket statement about all kids, but we are seeing more and more of this behavior. Something needs to be done, or it's going to get a whole lot worse). IMHO.”

Obama's State Of The Union Address: Everybody Must Play By The Same Rules

Obama's State Of The Union Address: Everybody Must Play By The Same Rules

Commented Jan 25, 2012 at 10:45:40 in Politics

“First of all, I purchased my house over 8 years ago when I could afford to do so, so it was way before Obama got into office and my costs of living got more expensive. The real estate taxes go up every year, and my mortgage payment (which includes my real estate taxes) goes up every year. And food, gas, clothing, oil, etc. has skyrocketed too. Now that I pay more for health insurance to boot, (and it's much more than 20-30 bucks a month----don't know where you live, but in my neck of the woods, double to triple that number), it is harder to come up with the money to pay my bills. What I was commenting on in your post is that you say I'm mad that a black man was elected president. No, I'm mad that the president has no hope of fixing this economy for me (just a cog in this lower/middle class wheel, and getting lower by the day!) He has done nothing to make it any better for the working poor. And I can say that because during this MAN's (note I did not say black man's) presidency, I have become the working poor!”

RCnDC on Jan 25, 2012 at 11:08:35

“Look back and you will see a televised speech from Bush in 2008 where he said that our economy was strong only to come back 3 weeks later, on TV, to say we were in a recession.. One that started in 2007.. It took him 1.5 yrs to even acknowledge the poor shape the economy was in and then it was too late. His tax cuts went to the wealthy, they really didn't care that they saw a million or two less because it didn't impact them like it did us.. He and the GOTP were out of touch.. More has to be done, but i'm sure, as we have seen from a do nothing congress who has stopped everything, it won't come from any in the GOTP.. Good luckl”

“Do you understand the horrible situation that we were put in after 8 years of funding wars that were not paid for? We all know now that the trillions that went to Iraq, and the senseless loss in lives, was completely in the wrong place to begin with.. We went from losing 700k jobs a month to seeing net job gains of 100-250k a month.. How is that not progress? It may not be enough, but it's progress and it's in the right direction.. I would love to have seen it happen faster but this was truly a run away freight train after 8 yrs of bush polices. Where in history is it written that such a crisis should take x amount of time to get out of? We are all impatient, but we all need to pull back the layers of the onion to see where it came from and not try and denigrate the very people who are at least trying to do something.”

“I totally disagree with your argument. I am not NOT IN FAVOR of this president because he's a black man, I am NOT IN FAVOR of this president because I work hard and still cannot afford to pay my mortgage, health insurance premium and put food on my table for my family. Get off the "race" issue, it's an economic issue! Because of the Obamacare bill, my health insurance premiums skyrocketed to the point where I take home less money this year than last year because of the increase in my premium (and I did get a small raise starting in 2012). He's not a "black" president, he's THE president, and I think he's doing a disservice to me as a hard working American!”

“Who do you think is partly responsible for the huge rise in home prices, the appraisers that the banks employ.. The title companies that work for the banks.. The higher the appraisal, the more everyone makes.. I could go on and on.. The baggers want to say Gov regulation is killing us, then on the other hand, they want to blame the Gov for "allowing" the housing / bank collapse by not regulating it enough.. The easing of regulations in the 80's and 90's to stimulate the economy caused this they say. It can't be both ways.. Now they want to relax regulations once again because it's killing the market.. The government certainly doesn't get everything right, but I can tell you the banks and healthcare industries don't give a squat about you or your problems.. There has to be a balance somewhere and this notion that tax cuts create jobs was proven false when Bush, the first sitting pres ever, loss 8 million jobs under his term. The first net loss ever.. But congress and the wealthy saw their net worth climb thru the roof. Members of congress have seen their net worth, even excluding real state, has risen over 28% since 2008 while the rest of us continue to struggle.. There's something wrong with that picture.. I wish you and your family good luck.. You're right, it isn't easy..”

“I was with my company for 9.5 years.. After 3 promotion over the years I ended as director of software engineering.. I got sick, have had 7 surgeries in the past 2 years to get rid of spine tumors and the ones that spread from that. My lovely company fired me, they cancelled my health insurance..Even after 9.5 years, received ZERO severance.. I get a blind letter in my mailbox, not from my boss, but from an HR intern, not even an employee, telling me i'm fired.. I live in a right to work state and have ZERO recourse over these sobs.. My medical bills are over 250k.. I was being seen at Georgetown University in DC and after I lost my health insurance, Cigna, they no longer wanted to see me.. The Government protects businesses, they give them huge tax breaks and as you know many don't pay any taxes despite PROFITS in the 10's of billions every 3 months.. How is that fair? These are the same companies that are raising your healthcare premiums despite paying out 10s and 100s of millions to their CEOs and executive teams.. It's their policy to "pass along" healthcare costs to their employees because they want to meet and exceed the expectations of their wall street investors so the money doesn't get cut off.”

RCnDC on Jan 25, 2012 at 10:21:39

“Look.. Why do some of the working poor want to blame this president for trying to takle the corruption on wall street that is causing the issues you're facing? It makes no sense at all.. Are you paying attention to what's really going on? You're trying to shoot the messenger in your criticism of the President. I could ask the typical bagger talking point, Well if you can't afford your mortgage, even with higher health costs, then why did you buy the house you're in? You knew when you signed on the dotted line.. Health care costs did not make you house poor.. In most cases, responsible people wouldn't not buy a house that takes more than 30% of your income each month. Since you're working, i'm assuming you're on a group plan, even if it went up 20-30 bucks a month, that's not the other 70% of your income.. You do see the obscene salaries and bonuses that are being paid out on wall street right? The big banks are making historic profits right now, they are sitting on historic amounts of money, never seen before.. Healthcare reform is the best thing to happen to the Health Ins Industry. Metlife, in their own words in their Q3 SEC filing pointed out their rev and profits are up TENFOLD over a year earlier. their words”

“Yes, you hit the nail right on the head. Children are not taught coping skills from a very early age....there are no winners or losers in T-bal....everyone get's a trophy just for playing, etc. There are also the parents who give and give and give, and there is never "NO" said. So when reality actually sets in, these people don't know how to handle life's disappointments....they just don't know how. Couple that with the pain killers, anti-depressants, or whatever else they may be on...it's a very lethal combination!”

“Really? Do you pay any taxes? Do you own a home? Do you pay out of pocket for your health insurance? I do...a large percentage of my income goes towards taxes of one sort or another. If they expire for me (the very lower middle class), I am unable to keep paying my mortgage. I am unable to keep paying for health insurance for my family. This will destroy everything I've worked hard for 35 years for.”
