“Not really, Paul's entire platform is untenable and ignores the Constitution when convenient, same as any other career politician.”

“According to Wikipedia (an imperfect source) it is estimated that between 100,000 and 225,000 Iraqis including children died as a result of the oil sanctions alone. Estimated Iraqi casualties resulting from the invasion of 2003 varies with estimates ranging from 110,000 to 1m. The number of displaced Iraqis range from 400k to one million.”

“Might take some time to clean up after shock and awe and the other invasions. So I don't think the drone strikes will end until the USA goes bankrupt, like the Soviet Union. Or the USA could sell the pacific northwest to China so it can continue funding the MIC; China may be interested in the lumber. Have you heard anything lately about Afghan opium production? That could buy some more time as well and opium sales have assisted with the financing of previous empires. So I think Boeing stock should be ok for awhile. Hope this helps.”

Decades of overt and covert military actions in the ME have not been effective unless you are a politician, big banker, or head of a MIC firm. Time to try another approach but as your post suggests we will get suckered into another war.”

“I read something similar but with other twists: the NG pipeline would terminate in Syrian port on Mediterranean Sea where it would be offloaded to ships and transported to the EU among other places. Implications of that threaten Saudi oil markets and US petro-dollar hegemony since NG is priced in whatever currency the producer wants.”

HopeMom on Sep 3, 2013 at 17:23:33

“There are variations on the theme; yes, petrodollars are at stake. Yes, a terminus in the Med Sea is part of it. But Saudi Arabia wants the U.S. to intervene, as does Qatar, because U.S. intervention will benefit them.”

“Good evening logicalthinker. Sorry but those questions present too much cognitive dissonance for this thread. But to venture an answer to your first question: no, most folks are too busy, distracted, frightened, or lazy to do much independent research. Or their job, sanity, or social standing depend on them not seeking understanding. The MSM has the answers readily prepared for their consumption, so why bother? And what is independent research anyway? Best to just go along with the flow and not ask too many questions...but thanks for trying.”

“And this quote from the article would be funny if it wasn't so morbid:

General Richard B. Myers, of the Air Force, declared that “the world is a more dangerous and uncertain place today than it has been for decades.”

And we have been spending trillions over the decades on covert and overt militaristic interventions. Now they are telling us the world is a more dangerous place now? Perhaps it's time to review Einstein's definition of insanity.”
