“I have to wonder if some of the people who are complaining about him tweeting during his mother's death would be complaining if he was tweeting during a child's birth? Death, like birth, is a seminal life experience. It changes who we are and how we move through the rest of our lives. I think we have worked too hard to sanitize death in our culture. A few years ago I spent a week in hospice with my dad as he was dying. It was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. I wish I had taken some time to write about the experience as it was happening.”

“It's never too late to write about your experience.”
“It's not a curriculum, it's standards and national standards are a great idea. Most industrialized nations have national education standards. With a society as mobile as ours, we need to insure that kids are getting an equitable education that can be carried from district to district and from state to state. National standards do not restrict a school district or state from adding standards, they just set a common baseline.”

“On solution is to institute a version of "combat pay" where highly-qualified teachers who work in schools with below average test scores or who work with classes with under-performing students get paid more.”

“I love the concept. Unfortunately our current "reforms" make the low test scores the fault of the teacher.”
“Not according to science. Temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period were higher in the Northern Hemisphere than they were during the Little Ice Period, but 20th and 21st temperatures have been higher than temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period. http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/globalwarming/medieval.html”

“You probably also believe that the unemployment rate is about 7.6%.”
“One of the things I don't understand about all the fuss over imagined voter fraud is the fact that it is hard enough to get people to vote in any election, and yet some imagine that there are people willing to break the law and do some pretty intensive legwork to vote fraudulently. Voter fraud is a made-up problem designed repress the vote from one side and to appeal to the fears of the other side.”
“They are not silent. They are busy giving 1001 reasons why we need to do everything we can to restrict the right to vote because of a problem that doesn't exist. Buy god forbid we ask for background checks for purchases at gun shows. That an invasion of their rights.”
“When I woke up one Saturday morning, I found that my 3-year old daughter had decided to feed the cats for me. She gave them a pineapple upside down cake covered with a bag of flour and a bag of sugar. I guess that was better than the time my four-year old brother decided to fix my dad's car by dropping a screwdriver into the gas tank.”

“When I was four my friend and I decided to paint my grandfather's boat to help him out. We didn't understand the concept of paint brushes so we dumped buckets of paint into the bottom of the boat and tried to swoosh it up the sides with our tiny hands- didn't work too well though. My mom just about had a heart attack when she finally discovered us.”
“According to 2010 US Census stats it's 13.6%, I rounded up. You should never just pull your numbers out of thin air, you should use all your faculties and look them up.
I am not discriminating by anything, I am just putting out numbers. You can't argue that males are not disproportionately responsible for crime in this country by a staggering percentage. ”

“13.6% are the total percent black...5.9% is the percent of black males...it's from a 2010 census i didn't pull it out of the air..
5.9% of the pop. = 40% prison pop.
to use your words .."You can't argue that males are not disproportionately responsible for crime in this country by a staggering percentage. "”
Gunna on Jul 19, 2013 at 23:43:57
“and you cant argue blacks are not more likely to commit crimes....in fact if you believe your numbers you agree...
listen you need to look at the whole statistic your13.6% number represents all blacks...i had segregated males thus the 5.9% ...”
“If you are going to make and argument using numbers, use the right ones
In 2011, 69.2 percent of all persons arrested were white, 28.4 percent were black, and the remaining 2.4 percent were of other races. And if you look at the chart linked below, you will see that black men are not responsible for 60% of any crime, except for gambling, let alone violent crimes.
“Well, blacks actually make up 14% of the population and if you break up those stats by location - urban, suburban, rural, you will see that the percentages change. So maybe it's not a matter of race, but of geography or economics, or opportunity, or any number of things. One thing is for sure, it is always a matter of gender. Over 74 percent (74.1) of the persons arrested in the nation during 2011 were males. They accounted for 80.4 percent of persons arrested for violent crime and 62.9 percent of persons arrested for property crime.”

“" blacks actually make up 14% " actually it's apx 12%....and i was talking about black males....as stated in the first part ...
it's interesting, you are willing to discriminate by gender but not by race...
i suggest you use all your faculties in navigating life...”
