“My son is an engineering student at Texas A & M Univ., one of the biggest & best engineering schools around. Bottom line-there are not enough jobs for their graduates. Also, older engineers in EE or IT have told him they are quitting the field due to layoffs. Without startup money for new enterprises, and offshoring, there is no future in this field. The few jobs being created in this nation are in service industries. SOMEONE has to MAKE SOMETHING to support the service industries. If we don't we become another Greece!”

“Mine too! He's graduating soon in ME. The department claims some enormous placement success, like 79% or something, and it is actually the best placement rate in the country. But only like 30% doing actual engineering jobs.”
“George Steel- what goes around comes around. You bailed on the Dallas Opera right after signing a contract with it-for the greener pastures of the NYC Opera. Look what you got. Yes, perhaps the company could use a new director!”

“Dallas made a huge mistake and the NYCO perpetuated it.”
“Just what is marriage- a chance to get your own needs met? A meeting of minds who are perfectly in tune? I read this column daily out of curiosity, and am amazed how in my generation (baby boomer) and my parents, the expectations have changed. Once, 30+ to 100 years ago, marriage was a partnership. You had goals together - build a business, (being supportive), raise responsible and kind children, and yes work together just to survive. Women's lib did a lot - taught some women to be female chauvanists/narcissists. Marriage is not about romance for long but about a partnership - a master mind group as Napoleon Hill always said. We need to go back to helping one another.”

“a partnership?? women were more considered property and or wholly subservient to the "man of the house"”
“Here's to you American Airlines, my hometown airline in Dallas Fort Worth. For more than 20 years we've had to pay 40-50% more in airfares than our neighbors in Austin, Houston or Oklahoma city. Your predatory pricing threatened the viability of the smaller airlines that tried to compete. That and your rude flight attendants made the thought of booking tickets a major hassle.
When given the choice, I always choose another airline. Just take a survey of your popularity here in DFW guys. Every time one of your syrupy ads comes on about "We're your hometown airline"-it reminds me never to book with you. I am not alone!! It's time to wake up management AND employees. Your continuing arrogance will result in liquidation. Then maybe we'll get some competition here.
P.S. Take a hint from some of your competitors. I've received good service on Frontier and
And PPS You can close that CR Smith museum if you want to save money. I took my students on a field trip there 10 years ago. We didn't learn much, except that you like to complement yourselves.”

“Why don't you fly Southwest, they are right on the other side of town?
Oh, and Frontier is probably going to go Ch 7 in the near term. Ch 11 if they are LUCKY. Republic is going to dump them. Maybe good service, but they are losing money hand over fist as well.”
“"In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards". Mark Twain.
So what else is new? Since when does an institution have your child's interests at heart? It's important to stay on top of what they learn in school so that you can teach your kids the realities of life, politics, success in the outside world at home.
Right now politicians think that they can manipulate public opinion through Management of Perception Economics (MOPE), that the economy will get better by printing money. Every middle class person in this country must look beyond mainstream media blather (which includes the NY Times), to the consequences of the actions about to happen. THINK! Money printing will result in hyperinflation and a worthless dollar. Politicians that talk in circles are trying to hide this fact.
Trust your instincts and look to the scandals of the past. This is the tip of the iceberg. Prepare to take responsibility for yourself and family. Please think, it can happen here. Look to history!!!!!!”

“Reading, re-reading, and writing analytical papers on works of authors like Twain, Crane,Faulkner, and O'Connor about human nature in a literature class has done more for my critical thinking skills than anything else. I look at history, religion, and politics from a different perspective.”
