“I'm SO tired of that lame a&& argument! "....it would be overridden anyhow, so it would not matter if he vetoed it" So people - let alone The President - should just 'go along' with what they MAY not be able to change?? Are you serious? What about a veto "for the record"? What about NOT showing your support, by NOT signing it? While some ppl may not be surprised by congress, they may be surprised by Obama signing this - again. (I am NOT surprised) But, to say "well, it wouldn't have mattered" - Thats just a sheep's way of thinking, I guess!”
“Yes I read it. I also use critical thinking skills when I read. These "articles" are meant to make you feel, believe, or persuade you & are usually inaccurate. A Cardiac Catheter isnt left in overnight. A Chest Catheter is left in, but is placed right ABOVE your heart. Which was it? Sounds odd to me. The mom & child ARE citizens & were there for a month of treatment. If something else needs to be done, it seems Mom has brought her in for treatment before & would again. I think she was threatened with a comment like "a social worker from the state will be here in the morning..". Hence, my "Nanny State" comment. It says they were known to live a "nomadic" lifestyle. You think CPS will actually allow people to live what is outside the 'norm'? They're referring to the girl as "missing". She's NOT missing, she's with her PARENTS! Maybe she only has months left to live & they chose to let her live with family. We don't know. Its not against the law for them taking her. They just questioned Dad at the border & let him go.
Before "professionals" became the authority on what is best for individual children - PARENTS were THE authority. She looks well cared for, especially considering she has Leukemia. You asked if I knew the precautions that need to be taken with a leukemia patient. It only matters that her parents do. I think after 11 yrs of it, they”

“Just one more bit of information for you before you feel comfortable with the idea that the parents made a decent decision here. This is a quote from the seargeant who is working this case. I've provided the link to the story below.
"We have been informed by medical personnel if the catheter is not medically removed, the victim's heart could potentially become infected resulting in the child's death," Martos said.
Maybe one of the parents is a nurse and you're right. Who knows.
“I agree with you that many of these articles are written to persuade. But I also know how dangerous it can be for a person with leukemia to get infected and to die within a short period of time. It all depends on the type of leukemia and the stage of their treatment. The article doesn't mention how long she's been sick either - no details are provided other than she has leukemia, which is not a good thing. You can't assume anything other than possibilities, such as it "could be" a serious issue for her health if she were to be infected.
And YES! I think people and unfortunately children live outside of the norm all the time, even under CPS' watch. You only have to read this crime section to find example after example of that.
I would take an oncology professional's opinion over mine any day if my child had leukemia. You wouldn't?”
“I think this story is being a bit exaggerated. The mom left with her at 10:30 at NIGHT on Wednesday, she was to be discharged on Thursday - the NEXT day! What "life threatening" procedure and discharge could have been done all in one morning? Sounds like they were afraid of having "Nanny State" called on them - so they left the night before....”

“I'm sorry, but did you read the article? Do you know the kind of precautions that need to be taken with a leukemia patient? This could be a serious issue for this poor girl's health.
What do you even mean by having "Nanny State" called on them in this situation?”

“The mother apparently removed a catheter from the child's heart, which is an extremely dangerous thing to do. This is supposed to be done in a sterile setting (i.e. not a hospital bathroom) and the puncture wound absolutely needs to be closed and sealed before discharge. She basically has a pathway directly to her heart, just waiting for infection.”

“"According to AZ Central, authorities are concerned about the child's welfare as they fear that a catheter in her heart could soon become infected and endanger her life."
I hope this answers your question about your "life threatening" question. You should know that only a few children with leukemia actually pull through, so this is not exaggerated at all.”
“What about his older son who is NEVER mentioned?? Maybe he'll dispose of Blue (hopefully not) in the way he did his son. As soon as the relationship ended, he pretty much just left the kid alone. I think he's about 10 or 13 now. Poor kid.”

“He has no other children. That's a bad rumor that's been around for years.”
“Your point is what??? That they really are 'just like us'? Are you one of those people that sees the cover of some magazine that reads "actress/singer working & juggling motherhood - HOW DOES SHE DO IT?" , and you really think to yourself "wow, how DOES she do it"? Like I said, I don't hate on rich people, but when people act like they have the same problems as average people? No. They don't get fired if the car breaks down, no worries if Jr. needs braces, rent - please, food, utilities - nothing! Rich people can complain to rich people. Us poor people have to stick together!”

“Seriously. These people could retire, right now, and live a middle-class existence for the rest of their lives off of their current wealth.
I earn the US median income - way more than the average - and it's not even $50k a year. Their net worth is probably equal to more than 10 years of my gross income.”
