“So, now that the TRUTH is out, that he LIED about this alleged "crime", do you support a Saudi-like response to Mr Tennen? Should he have his hand cut off?”
flyfysher on Oct 9, 2012 at 18:08:27
“I am unaware of further developments in this story. That stated, do the Saudis suggest cutting one's tongue out for lying? I do not know. Or if your lies have resulted in an innocent person being punished then maybe they would cut off the liar's head. Now that is a true measure of deterrence. Would you not agree? Perhaps the Singaporeans have the right idea to cane one for misconduct. Then again, mere caning likely would not be a deterrent to someone like Cheney, GWB, Bolton, McConnell, Cantor and other Republicans.”
“But remember, ANY criticism of him is "anti-Semitism"...”

“Bullshit! As a Jew, people like Adelson, make me nauseous. Why is it that so many Jews continue to vote for Democrats and identify with Liberals? Because we have heart, compassion, and care about people and our fellow man. Adelson and his ilk, are selfish greedy pigs. The whole Right Wing obsession with Israel is IMHO creepy. Bibi and Romney have been best pals for 35 years. Power corrupts absolutely! I hope and pray for the re-election of President Obama, for many reasons. One of the reasons is to bring the gonif Adelson to justice and throw that creep in jail for a long long time.”
“Interesting... still no description of these "two men with shaved heads" who allegedly did these things, in spite of several witnesses telling police that "two men got in a fight with him". No mention of stapling, or shouting, or the Jewish thing...
“Can you please carefully read at least 6 random media accounts of this event? Go to Google and search his name, please.
Notice that NO HOSPITAL OR POLICE PERSONNEL say that his jaw was broken or stapled.
Only the "victim" and his family say that.
The police report says that eye witnesses saw the victim arguing with "two people" and one of them punched him. Period. No beating, no stapling, no "hate crime"...
THAT is why I called BS on this. The entire story is fishy.”
“Oh, I'm a bigot? Or... am I a widely read man who has seen quite more than a "handful" of "highly publicized false hate crimes"?
May I remind you that the brutal rape and murder of Mr & Mrs Strait in Tulsa was not considered a "hate crime"? Nor was the brutal murder of Lori Foster in Mobile. I could list a few hundred like that...
I reject your label of bigot. I'm a realist.”
ihuber1 on Aug 29, 2012 at 12:45:11
“See... now you are a bigot too! LOL I'm with you... I think it is FAKE FAKE FAKE.”
JH-Poster on Aug 29, 2012 at 09:44:33
“....you do know there's a difference between something being a hate crime and someone being convicted of a hate crime, right?
In regard to the the Straits, a hate crime modifier in Oklahoma has zero additional penalty to a murder, so it wasn't worth the time and effort to prosecute it as a hate crime which would be an unnecessary point of contention during the trial.
I couldn't find a single reference to Lori Foster, so I'll ask you substantiate that.
Hate crimes are rare convictions because they're usually only followed through for misdemeanors which are upgraded to felonies by virtue of the hate crime modifier or in states where the hate crime modifier always has an added penalty.
I'm sorry that someone who considers themselves so "widely read" overlooked such an important detail in their reading.
“Herbert: Did you just invoke the Holocaust and Southern lynchings in a discussion about a crime in 2012???
Wow. I foolishly assumed that everyone would know I was talking about "HATE CRIMES" IN MODERN TIMES, say... the last 20 years.
Clearly, I was wrong. Let's throw in the Russian pogroms, too. And can we include the anti-Irish bias as well? Look: millions and millions of "hate crimes"!!!”
ihuber1 on Aug 29, 2012 at 12:42:04
“Tom... careful, you are put yourself on the Jewish hit list. Not allowed to disagree or you are automatically Anti-semetic.”
“Because the "crime" probably did not happen. I think he made it up. That's what Jerry meant by "false hate crime"...”
JH-Poster on Aug 29, 2012 at 00:24:45
“I'm glad that *you* think he made it up. Now, if you have anything at all to actually base your opinion on for this particular event that would be wonderful.
I'm really forced to wonder about the mentality that makes some people inclined to accuse the victim of a crime. It's rather analogous to all those people that blame rape victims of having "wanted it".”
“Gee, thanks! Because I smell BS in a weak "hate crime" claim, I must therefore hate the religion of the person making this weak claim... Is that how it works?
There have been numerous false "hate crime" claims, just lately. Including the ones I cited in my comment.
So, because I picked out a false hate crime that was actually committed by a Jew, as cover for insurance fraud, I am somehow "anti Semitic"??? That is laughable.
I say it again: there have been about as many false "hate crime" claims as there have been "real" ones. And my strong personal belief, based solely on reading the weak claims in this one, is that it is yet another FALSE claim.
Read my last sentence again, please: "Let's wait a week and see how this plays out, shall we?"”
JH-Poster on Aug 29, 2012 at 00:36:13
“There have been a handful of highly publicized false hate crimes lately, so in response you will now disregard all of the vastly more numerous purported hate crimes for the indefinite future as being false, despite not having any particular reason to disbelieve the circumstances of this one
Barbara Smith was wrong to jump at accusing you for being an antisemite, you are, however, a bigot. In one fell swoop you are actively attempting to delegitimize the very concept of a hate crime, and are accusing the victims of acting criminally themselves.”
Herbert3000 on Aug 29, 2012 at 00:24:04
“Naw, you're not necessarily antisemitic. But you are bad at statistics. "Just as many" false hate crimes as real ones? Even if we ignore the six million of the holocaust and the lynchings of a reconstructionist south, that's a pretty absurd statement. There have been falsified hate crimes, but there have not been that many.”
“Might I suggest a perusal of the New York Daily News:
The East Lansing Police Department told the Daily News Tuesday it had identified one possible suspect.
“Two witnesses said they saw the victim having an argument with two other males in the front yard and one punched him in the face,” Capt. Jeff Murphy said.
“There was nothing about anti-Semitic statements or about his face being stapled,” Murphy said.
The witnesses said party-goers gave Tennen frozen vegetables for his face and put him in a taxi.
“I’m not sure why nobody called police,” Capt. Murphy said.
Police were not informed of the incident until 12 hours later, he added.
Let's review: no-one called police.
"Victim" took cab to the hospital.
Alleged attackers NOT DESCRIBED.
Eye-witness say two men were arguing with the "victim" and one of them punched him.
Everyone has now clammed up.
All statements repeat ALL statements, are from the alleged "victim" or his family.
I'm calling BS on this one. Just like the lesbian who carved herself up with "slurs", and the gay guy who claimed he was attacked but video showed he fell skateboarding, and the last case in NYC, where several "Jewish" cars were burned and swastikas painted, but it turned out to be an insurance scam by a Jewish man. There have been about as many false hate crime claims as there have been "real" ones.
Let's wait a week and see how this plays out, shall we?”

“I notice that the HuffPo article does not include certain information, such as a description of the murderers. I will correct that oversight:
Melissa Villneff said two of the robbers were friends of her 19-year-old son and had been at her house in the past. He was at home, as was Melissa Villneff’s three nieces, ages 10, 12 and 13.
Melissa Villneff’s nephew, 16-year-old Terrance Villneff, a star football player at Robichaud High School in Dearborn Heights, was pistol-whipped and beaten with a bat. He returned home this morning, Melissa Villneff said.
Police described the robbers as five males wearing black T-shirts. Police said the 16-year-old, presumably Terrance Villneff, had been standing outside the house when he was attacked with a club by several (black) male suspects.
I see there has been no discussion of the racial aspect of this case, nor any thought that it may be a "hate crime." I am confident that had a black war hero been murdered by a rampaging white mob, race would be at the forefront of the discussion...”
If two of the robbers were friends of the family, then there's something more going on than a simple robbery -- perhaps a falling out over something. Which does not excuse the perps one bit, because you don't treat friends like that!
But if the perps were former friends, how does that fit into your "hate crime" scenario?”
“I thought that an employer could regulate speech on their property?”
TheAncientOne on Aug 3, 2012 at 21:42:48
“Whose property is this? Who owns the property?”

“It is a public school, public property. Rules cannot be made just too single one person, especial after have been employed for years.”

“Are you kidding me, unless a sratement or an object infringes on the rights of another individual who cares. By your way of thinking an employer could deviate from the law of the land and impose any doctrine or idealism on an employee. This employee was not infringing non anyones' rights by displaying the confederate flag in his truck, if we continue to supress the rights of our citizens to express opinions by objects or spech we as a society will no longer exist....and furthermore who will decide which is acceptable and which is against the law....enough with politically correct and those who only use occasions to advance their personal dogma on the rest of us.”
“Wrong. Google it.
In 2006, an interviewer from the British newspaper The Independent questioned Nugent about a 1977 interview in High Times magazine in which Nugent admitted taking elaborate steps to avoid the Vietnam draft. In the interview Nugent says, contrary to the story in High Times, that "I had a 1Y [student deferment]. I enrolled at Oakland Community College.". However, the Selective Service classification for student deferment is actually 2-S, and medical deferment is 1-Y. A copy of Nugent's Selective Service record shows that he had at separate times both a 1-Y medical deferment and 2-S student deferment, . "... if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes ... I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."”

“He’s now the proud babydaddy to eight children with six different women, most of whom he abandoned and to whom he refused to pay child support. One of those kids was fathered with another woman (not his wife) during his current marriage, and while he fought for years to avoid paying even a dime of child support, you paid instead, as the kid and mother went on welfare. You expect me to believe an interview he gave to High Times.”
