“The proposed bill is very specific for low income stay at home mothers with children under 3; these mothers are not the same as Ann Romney who has houses on both coasts and perhaps has a few au pairs, maids, drivers, and other wait staff to assist her.
And to categorically pile-on a bill to assist low income mothers to defend a comment about Ann Romney falls into the category of lack of common sense. The Repubs are reacting like someone stole their favorite gold-plated soccer ball instead of responsible legislators who were elected by American voters.
Another slight for all American women from Republicans - when will they learn?”

“I have studied Conservative psychology for years now and one thing I know for sure is, you cannot teach them anything.”
“First they want to take away birth control from women, now they don't want to support lower income mothers with children under 3. Somebody wake up the Republicans and let them know Ward & June Cleaver lived a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago.
And Romney needs the female vote desperately to bridge the gap enough to even think about defeating Obama. WOW ---they need to use some of the billions they hoard and use it to buy A CLUE”

“Ann Romney is never going to convince anyone to vote for her serial lying husband. Ann is also a liar and creepy in a very creepy way.”
“Can we please put the Ann Romney outrage into perspective?
I'm willing to bet that most stay-at-home mothers don't have a $12 million dollar seaside vacation home in La Jolla, CA that was renovated last year to quadruple its size.
If the Romney household can afford to have a multi-million dollar vacation home, they probably have an au pair or two on both coasts. And perhaps a few wait staff, like a small herd of maids to empty the trash of any poopie diapers. And a driver to take the kids to their private school and other after school activities.
So the Repubs wanna rally around First Lady Hopeful like a pack of wolves and take away assistance from the lower-income working mothers with children under 3 who can barely pay for food let alone a babysitter.
“"I have never seen a more irresponsible president who is infantile in the way that he continually blames everyone else for his failure to first diagnose the problem and second to address the problem.----Ummm -- did Michelle just insult her own party with this comment??? Or did I miss something???”

“If they don't have to be civil, why should we? If she feels it's ok to insult the President, lie on him, and call him names, then I don't feel obligated to respect her! She's just a desperate LIAR and RACIST. ANYONE who deliberately uses inflammatory speech deserves the rebuke of the public!”
“"If you just cut -- if all you're thinking about is just cutting spending -- why as you cut spending you'll slow down the economy, so you have to at the same time create pro-growth tax policies," Romney said during a town hall meeting in Michigan.
How pitiful is it that Romney speaks English yet needs a translator to clarify his messages?
Once again he is flip-flopping on his own platform -
Some of these "cost cuts" he is proposing are hitting in critical areas - such as education, transportation and technology. In case you haven't noticed - schools K-12 as well as colleges nationwide have been implementing tax and/or rate increases year-over-year of at least 3-4 percent. Teachers are being cut, education programs are further restricted.
Transportation and infrastructure are job creators - and you want to cut spending here???
Try cutting costs where it counts - like redundant services and programs. Last count - we have about 159 of these that could save our country 1.5 billion dollars. Look it up in gov stats ---- not a typo -- 1.5 billion dollars - and that's a low estimate.”
“From the political genius of Michelle Bachmann: "I have never seen a more irresponsible (fill in the blank) who is infantile in the way that he continually blames everyone else for his failure to first diagnose the problem and second to address the problem."
Sessions is the ranking minority member of the Senate Budget Committee - see I knew she was insulting her own party ---”
“Let's put Sessions' comment into perspective:
First - he's the ranking Minor Leader for the Senate Budget Committee who has systematically voted party line since 1996. He was a staunch Bush Administration supporter who approved billions of dollars spent for the Iraq war, and voted against Obama's proposed withdrawal from Iraq.
He voted against the Keystone Pipeline Amendment which would have forced use of American made products and provide oversight of the pipeline's environmental compliance. And he also voted against promoting renewable energy and energy conservation. Both of these proposed bills would have translated into several thousand US jobs and less dependency on foreign oil.
And he has the cojones to publicly blame Obama for a few stupid idiots in Secret Service that have already been FIRED, and say Obama isn't taking ownership of the GSA when Obama immediately ordered investigation into their recent alleged wrongful spending -
Guess he and Bush share the same brain cells......”
“Bernanke, Paulson and the like are not the economic oracles some people make them out to be. The old pony tricks used in past decades playing with interest rates and borrowing rates WILL NOT work in a global economy. At least 100+ books written by extremely intelligent financial wizards have explained this in detail. Until there is a law stronger than the current Dodd-Frank curbing the cash junkies on Wall Street from getting any bigger and reigning in their junkie financial tricks - oil prices will continue to rise, big bad banks will keep getting bigger, and the 1 percent will keep getting richer.”
“Follow up comment to prior posts about this story -
First of all - NO PRESIDENT can "create jobs" without full support and backing of Congress, Wall Street and major employers.
The massive government blank checks written to bail out Wall Street and fund economic stimulus tax incentives to major companies were handed over with NO OVERSIGHT. There was a prayer and a wink from Bernanke and Paulson that the money would be used responsibly for US economic stimulus. The Glass-Steagall Act was repealed during Clinton's tenure, which would have prohibited the banks getting to big to fail.
The running joke was that mostly Goldman-Sachs alums were in Treasury positions, which is like having the fox watch the hen house.
OBAMA cannot be blamed for everything that has gone wrong before he took office, nor for the lack of accountability, responsibility and common sense of Congress. Unless he starts writing Executive Orders like Bush Junior did, trampling the Constitution with FISA, FOIA, billion dollars for Iraq.. I could go on ...
And if anyone thinks ROMNEY can fix everything if elected - I really wanna know what you are smoking.”
“I am really disappointed at the content of this story - and I'd really like to know how deep the reporter(s) dug into the FACTS. During end of March to-date - several major tech employers like IBM, Microsoft, etc have announced massive layoffs. As an individual affected by the recent layoffs - I can state FOR A FACT a lot of the tech jobs ADDED are in INDIA - NOT US.
Request a rewrite please......”
“After reviewing the posts bashing Pres Obama for participating in a Jazz session -
The Iranian Oil Sanctions they are proposing are to reduce the cost of gas and eliminate risk of ave gas price at $5, further hampering any type of economic growth.
The "cost" of this event was quite less than the billions of dollars Dubwa spent on a military base given as a present to Iraq (refer to BBS archives for details).
Please folks - don't believe the hype Romney and Santorum are trying to push about what Obama and his administration have or haven't done. Based on last stats discussed on Rachel Maddow - Obama has addressed 85% of the campaign promises before his presidency.
I for one am pleasantly surprised at how well he has done so far - given the mess he was handed day 1.
So yes - I think our Prez deserves to get his jazz on in style -”

“travelinfemale ~ I totally agree with you !! If people would stop listening to all the propaganda the Right is pushing on us (and now they are even going after the Girl Scouts - come on, this is a complete joke - but nobody dares laugh). Anyway, if people could actually WATCH and LISTEN to some REAL NEWS and see that things are starting to improve they might stop being so bitter. Yes, it's true things are moving slowly - but consider what President Obama has to work with, I think too that given the mess he walked in on and the fact the Right have been trying so hard (too often successfully) to stop him from doing as much as he could do for this country, he has done a GREAT job and I REALLY hope to see President Obama re-elected for another term.”
