“If the UK had gone to war at Munich they would have lost. Chamberlain bought the country enough time to be ready. There is no way we could win a war against Iran (see: Wars; Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam)”

But I've always thought that 'Reducto ad Hitlerum' shows a lack of mental furniture upon which to construct a real position.”

“Your generation calls it child abuse, which is BS! Spankings never killed any kid. Spankings is exactly what these brats need, along with people who can actually understand the definition of the word PARENT!”

“First, you have to be a NFL quarterback and kneel on the football field as if you are praying. Then, you have to have your pose named after you. It would be, I guess, "toco60ing". Good luck in your quest for an easy job. Praying for rain in Texas.”
“Exactly. Turn the dagger around and show it to 'em instead of taking their crap. Well republicans, what's it gonna be? How much money from your defense contractor donors will you lose if you chicken out?”
“So here we go again; another war with no objective, no limitations, no idea of what the reaction will be, no idea of what the game will look like, no idea of what our war will do to our allies, no idea of what the ultimate monetary cost will be to its taxpayers, no idea of how badly we'll be further sucked in to the political vortex of the middle east, I could go on and on and on. If there is one thing that has been proven time and time again in our military adventures starting with Vietnam its that these adventures NEVER go the way we think they will and that we NEVER justify the cost of our lost treasure, both in money and people. This war will not help us save face. It's also baffling how our government can't write off the deaths of foreign civilians but it doesn't seem to have a problem writing off the deaths of American soldiers with these military excursions. Why us? Why only our soldiers? Why only our borrowed money? Why our tottering economy? Where will it end? I don't know what to do about Syria's government. I deeply regret the deaths of innocents from chemical weapons. I know something should be done, what that is I don't know. I do know this however: other nations need to step up and help. Now. The U.S. can't do these things alone anymore.”

“Because the POTUS promised a Red Line. And the POTUS cannot admit he made a mistake. It makes HIM look weak. So, millions are spent, more people killed, maybe some Americans.
Two years of men women and children being killed, vacillation. Use Poison Gas, NOW we attack. After we telegraphed exactly what we would do.
"Don't do that! I said don't do that! Don't You dare!" Don't cross that line!" I'll smack you if we do! Alright, here's a cruise missile!"
Two months later. "I thought I told you NOT to do that......!"”

“I grew up in Europe, and we did think of the US as the leader and savior, during the Cold War. But that was way before we understood how the US machine worked: Overthrowing Mossadegh in Iran, operating with dictatorships in Central America, giving the go-ahead nod to the military junta in Argentina to go after the "leftists" (30,000 people killed) invading Panama because of a drug-dealing president, invading Grenada (and I still don't know why) and of course Vietnam. The resistance to the US doing anything these days is based on the Iraq war mess. So, Bush has more to answer for than just the billions in money and thousands of American deaths, he did singlehandedly destroy the world view that we were good, fair and honorable. He probably sleeps well at night, but mainly because he totally lacks empathy and had no idea what he was doing.”

“"Stand your Ground" is such a misnomer. "Kill whomever you feel like killing and then make up a bunch of lies to justify it" would be much more accurate. Problem is, republicans can't accept the truth.”
“Unlike republicans who go home and bleat to their stupid constituents about how they're trying desperately to save social security and medicare while they go back to congress and vote to kill it. Now that's hypocrisy, republican style.”

“I would rather smoke a joint and smile and be happy than categorize a mass of people, judge them and feel okay about it. You do realize marijuana is legal in Washington right. That means more than 50% of the state wanted this. You do realize Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks and Amazon are all from Seattle? This means "dopers" are building your computers, your planes and you are drinking their coffee and buying their goods. Do you need a hug?”
