“Where did you learn tax law? There is a wage cap re the Social Security tax -- $113,700 for 2013. I'll explain this slowly so you understand: everyone pays 6.2% Social Security tax up to $113,700 in earnings. No tax on any income above that. So someone who earns up to $113,700 pays the 6.2% rate. Someone who earns $1,137,000 would therefore be paying at a rate of .62% . (Just move the decimal point). Someone earning $11,370,000 would pay a rate of .062%. Ergo, the wealthy pay a much lower SS tax rate than middle-class folks.”

“The middle class pay more as a percent of their income ( of course those entitlements are for them and benefit them the most) but they PAY THE SAME RATE ! The top 5% of taxpayers ( certainly not part of the middle class) pay 58% of all Federal income tax, and 80% of all Federal taxes ( payroll, capital gains) and they're the ones that are going told to pay more, NOT for their benefit but so that further cuts don't have to be made to a system that now see almost 70% of the population receiving more in direct government payment s than they pay into the system.
The “ Holy Grail” of the left is that is “ they paid into the “ Entitlement programs” and thus are “ entitled”, but the Medicare program continues to be inviolate as a political matter. In other words, if you want to fairly frame the issue as a political question, it would be:
Do you believe it is correct policy to require the poorer demographics to contribute towards the medical care of the more affluent?
How would you and the rest of your ilk respond if the question were framed that way ?”
“They pay sales tax, property tax (via their rent), gas tax, medicare tax, and social security tax, the latter at a much higher rate than the wealthy do. They used to pay more income tax, but the Bush tax cuts lessened that.”

“medicare tax, and social security tax, the latter at a much higher rate than the wealthy do****** They pay at the same rate. Where did you learn math, public school no doubt. As for state and local taxes are concerned that's not my problem and the reason that I chose to live in a state with no state income tax, relatively low taxes over all and a balance budget. And, guess what, we even produce jobs !
BWT the top 2% paid more in taxes after the Bush tax cuts, both in total dollars and as a percentage of their incomes, because the cuts were across the board. Keep reading those bumper stickers. It confirms your ignorance !”
“Well, you can't have it both ways -- if people have low wages, you can't expect they're going to be able to pay much income tax.”

“f people have low wages, you can't expect they're going to be able to pay much income tax. ***** I don't but one should have an expectation that they pay something. 47% pay no Federal income tax and 70% of the population receives more in direct government funding than they pay into the system.”
“Luckily, "thoughts" and "beliefs" don't count as evidence in a trial.”

“Indeed, particularly not completely uninformed ones. Sometimes I cannot believe how it is possible for some folks to know enough about computers to be able to turn them on and post a message. Charcard's "belief" sadly, is typical of these sorts of people.”
