“As a professional pastry chef/baker I have always used lard for certain pastries and breads. Nothing else matches the flakiness it imparts. Sometimes use it to deep fry too. Good to see it's starting to lose some of it's stigma.”
“Sorry Mark you can split hairs over the meaning of words but reducing payments or taxes produces the same results as paying out money.”

“Of course, shopping at a store and stealing from it produces the same result as well. I see why you have that handle, it suits you. Maybe you should understand THE WORLD DOES'NT OWE YOU A LIVING. Go get a job and earn your own money, instead of trying to figure out how to steal it from someone else.
“Perhaps you need to educated yourself on the "hardships" suffered by gay people. You could start with a google search of Gay rights rally Georgia May 2013. Then you will see the physical violence their rallies are subjected to. You could do a search of Gays in Jamaica or Uganda. Or Nazi treatment of Gays. Or gays under the inquisition. Then you might see just how ridiculous your opinion is.”
“Perhaps you need to educate yourself about the discrimination gay people have faced for hundreds of years and currently around the world. A simple google search will show how many gay rallies are broken up with physical violence towards them. Often with the active support of the authorities. You could start with the gay rights rally in Georgia (country not state) in May of this year. You could do searches on the Nazis treatment of them. Or under the inquisition. Try googling gays in Jamaica or Uganda. Then come back to the discussion with an educated opinion.”
“There were two rulings. One regarding California and the other regarding the federal Defense of marriage act. The second which said the federal government did not have to recognize gay marriages preformed in states that allowed them, was overturned.”
“Why not? We are by definition animals, or did you flunk basic biology.”

“As human beings, we have the opportunity to use our intelligence to seek
answers to essential questions. We are more than animals we have a higher intelligence (though you wouldn't know it with some), we have instinct but also intelligence...... And don't try to make this a religious thing - that's what you want it to be, isn't it.”
“Did you read the paragraph after that when it talks about how onstage he encouraged the students to seek openness and change? Then went on to say how every one no matter what their sexual orientation should be allowed to love and marry whom they want.”
“You start out with the erroneous assumption that marriage has it origins in religion. It does not marriage is and always has been a civil function. The early Christian church did not preform marriages. Before the Justinian Code (527-565 CE) a simple statement that you were married was all that was needed. Marriage existed in Rome before the supposed birth of Jesus as it did in Greece and Egypt and other ancient cultures. None of these cultures based their marriages on a Jewish creation myth. Most of them were unaware of it. Catholic marriage preformed in a Catholic church before a priest and two witnesses only became enforced with the Council of Trent (1563CE). Nor did cultures as diverse as the Chinese, Japanese, Native American tribes in both North and South America in pre-Columbian tribes based their marriage practices on Jewish practices, of which they had no knowledge. It is religion that has stolen marriage not the government.
I would like to see the anthropological evidence to support the statement that most every moral law has it roots in religion and not the other way around.”

“Most laws are based on religious practices. They say you can't legislate morality, but that is exactly what laws do. They are designed to keep moral and ethical behaviors in people from doing wrong. Otherwise, you would have nothing but liberals running around doing whatever they feel like doing. Wow, talk about an epiphany.”

“I think he is saying because the Ten Commandments say not to kill or steal or any of those things, that affects the laws. While it may have some basis, let's be honest. Ancient Egypt had laws before Moses. While they were different, you have to know that not everything is as easy as saying the above comments. I believe religion can help maintain a moral society, but it is not the only factor. I also love how some so-called Conservatives like supporting government oversight that tells people how to live. I thought that conservatives were for the idea of smaller government. But not since Goldwater have they actually been.”
“Lets see if we can calibrate your hormonal levels and turn you into a lesbian. If it works then we will go on to experiment with gay people.”

“Many young people may have strong feeling towards members of their own sex, but that would work itself out by adulthood.
No form of therapy has ever successfully changed a homosexual into a heterosexual. It has, however, caused the psychological harm it purports to cure.
And maybe you should do your homework before suggesting it's merely a matter of "calibrating hormone levels." It methods range from the absurd (snapping yourself with a rubber band when experiencing an attraction to your own sex, group sports to improve platonic same-sex relationships), to the arousing (hugging sessions between men that are supposed to decrease same-sex attractions), the accusative (racking your brains to find out where you upbringing failed--other than sending you to therapy of course), to the alarmingly destructive (hooking up electrodes to the genitals and being given shocks while viewing gay porn).”
