Tyler The Creator Responds To Mountain Dew Commercial Backlash

Tyler The Creator Responds To Mountain Dew Commercial Backlash

Commented May 3, 2013 at 16:00:15 in Black Voices

“Tyler, you have obviously missed the point. There are many people who do not know who you are or what you are about. Other than this ad, some may have never known you. Including your friends in the ad may be noticeable to you, but it was not to others. Simply put, the ad was racist! There are enough stereotypes placed on minorities and we don't need your help perpetuating them. Tyler- READ A BOOK, work on real art, and educate yourself so when confronted with things like this you are able to comprehend!”

“At what point did the commercial have anything to do with drinking Mountain Dew? Random is the best word for this. Unfortunately people will continue to drink this brand.”

“You are partially correct, I was not expecting much! However, I clicked to deliver a message so that others could read, share, and learn. I tuned in to educate. Poor standards usually do not deserve a respone but, everything must be taken into consideration.”

“Is this really the only comment you had to share with the public? It seems that this article would share more about life and ways to avoid being a statistic. Chris Brown is not fulfilling a purpose that will help his community or family. Write an article that may influnce young people pursuing careers like Rihanna, Drake, and Chris Brown; to be better citizens, role models, philanthropist, and educators! Nothing about "laying pipe", is positive or helps a community of people already behind the curve. HORRIBLE!”

“What were you expecting when you clicked on an article about Chris Brown and Rhianna?? You got what you tuned in for.”

The Onion Apologizes For Quvenzhané Wallis Oscar Tweet

“This is great.... Hannah went on to say that The Onion has "instituted new and tighter Twitter procedures to ensure that this kind of mistake does not occur again," and that the individuals responsible for the tweet have been disciplined accordingly. (The Onion does not publicly credit individual writers for articles or jokes.) The Onion is well aware that this was NOT a MISTAKE but intended to share the personal feelings of one or a group of individuals. It is great that you can hide behind a screen, never sharing your name or showing your face when blatantly offending and criticizing others. This behavior is not new, it is something that will not end, and pretending to discipline will never be enough. Thank you for throwing a low blow at a 9 year old. WAY TO GO! (Internet bullying)”

dianamarie45 on Feb 25, 2013 at 15:55:13

“I completely agree with you and I would not call these folks internet bullies...they are in fact verbal rapist...or internet verbal rapist ..or pedophilic internet verbal rapist...you pick which ever one of the names that fits your fancy. What really bothers me is the number of people who either laughed at or support a no apology position on this issue..proving once again how we as a society continue to devalue children and will put forward any sort of justification to insure that they can continue to engage in this kind of behavior.”

Would a White Girl Be Prosecuted for a Botched Science Experiment?

Commented May 6, 2013 at 21:15:54 in Crime

“@eiffle tower.... The young lady has given a consistent statement to both school officials and law enforcement. Take a minute to read her statements and you can answer your question about curiosity. The writer of this story will be inefficient in providing any additional information as there have been no new releases. There should be some form of resolve, no punishment. The 13 year old white boy he mentions in his story killed his brother with a high powered bb gun, that was cause for punishment; none was given.”

Would a White Girl Be Prosecuted for a Botched Science Experiment?

Commented May 5, 2013 at 20:26:40 in Crime

“@eiffle tower.... I will correct previous information. Initial reports stated she was in a science class, at school; as turns out, she was on school property when her curiousity took over. The Bartow High School principal told a local television station: “Honestly, I don't think she meant to ever hurt anyone,” “She wanted to see what would happen [when the chemicals mixed] and was shocked by what it did.” In another era, Wilmot may have gotten scolded and sent back to class.“This situation is a poignant example of the absurdity of zero tolerance and the over-use of police intervention in schools” Dr. Kathleen Nolan, the author of Police in the Hallways: Discipline in an Urban High School and a lecturer at Princeton’s Program in Teacher Preparation, states. “Tragically, this young woman, all because of what appears to have been misguided curiosity, now faces expulsion and felony charges, which could negatively impact her future opportunities and alter the course of her life,” she said. “The policies are particularly pernicious for African-Americans and other young people of color as research shows these groups are disproportionately targeted by zero-tolerance policies and subject to harsher treatment once involved in the criminal justice system.” A certain amount of discretion amongst school officials should have been used and this problem should have been resolved without police contact.”

eiffle tower on May 6, 2013 at 07:55:39

“@vbcatlove..how does "your curiosity take over" once your on school property? Keira brought the drain cleaner to school from her home. The person that wrote this story needs to do an update to bring more facts to the table ASAP. Any way, I still believe the young lady needs to be punished but not put in jail..”

Would a White Girl Be Prosecuted for a Botched Science Experiment?

Commented May 3, 2013 at 13:30:07 in Crime

“If you take time to read the information presented by Florida reps, you discover that the 16 year old had no intentions of creating and then setting of a bomb. Mr. Rogers says it best, "You can grow ideas in the garden of your mind. It's good to be curious about many things. All you have to do is imagine!" She was in science class and was curious; which is what one should be when taking science courses. These are two stories with different facts, but very similar. Kids involved, an accident occurs but in one case someone is hurt and in the other no one is hurt. Now add race; at this point it does not matter that she has never been in trouble or that she performs well academically but that she was at school and no one will step forward to say, she was just being curious. Florida is a state notorious for continuing and elevating race bias/disparities.”

eiffle tower on May 3, 2013 at 17:47:04

“@vbcatlove...the young lady was not in science class. She brought the stuff from her home and did the experiment on school grounds with no adult supervision and no teacher had any knowledge of her actions. She deserves to be punished but not to the extent of what was given to her.”
Sanford Police Warns Media: We 'Will Not Hesitate To Make An Arrest For Stalking'

Sanford Police Warns Media: We 'Will Not Hesitate To Make An Arrest For Stalking'

Commented Mar 29, 2012 at 12:39:00 in Media

“If the Sanford police department is making arrest for stalking or following individuals when they are in their roles as private citizens, why was this not a factor when George Zimmerman "STALKED" Trayvon Martin? It would appear that the Sanford police department is getting a taste of what Trayvon Martin felt when he was followed, approached, and murdered while walking to his home! Now the Sanford police department and their staff are showing that they are better than law abiding citizens because they have the power to arrest, stating: Law enforcement officials will not hesitate to make an arrest for stalking their city employees. So, is the Sanford police department saying that city employees are the only citizens in that town that matter?”
