“So we can have a hostile nation spewing toxins into our shared air and waterways?
Does not seem like a good idea to me.
And how long before the redstate nation declares war on the bluestate nation?
Imagine all of the refugees we'd have to take in and support.
No, we have to work harder to educate the misinformed. We have to take on the rightwing media's lies. We're all in this mess together and other countries are following us down the tubes. It's going to take major demonstrations, boycotts, and national strikes to shake off the corporate puppets in our governments and un-do the damage they have done.”
“WRONG, churches are tax exempt and not legally allowed to spend money on politics and politicians. It's part of the separation of church and state. A church cannot amass huge fortunes and then spend those fortunes to push their religious/political agenda. I recommend you take a basic community college civics course. You have a real lack of understanding of how our system works.”

“They can't make political contributions, they can however have lobbies. Maybe you should go back to community college.”
“I agree with you except I think people should be allowed to grow 12 plants or less on their own property for personal use without having to pay any fees. Just like we grow our own fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc..”
“Because the Mormon church spent huge amounts of money trying to effect policy in my state and it cost us a lot of time and money to overturn it.
I absolutely do have problems with ANY church that participates in politics!
We have a right to freedom from religion guaranteed to us by the First Amendment.
Practice your faith in any way you wish; quit shoving it down OUR throats!”

“They have the right to stick their nose in politics the same as any other group does. Annoying or not, more than just churches do it. ”
“This is our problem with Mormons. They spend a ton of money pushing their ideological politics on the rest of us. Then when we push back we're told we are pushing our beliefs down other people's throats.
They give 10% to the church so that their men folk can have their secret meetings and decide how best to use that money to make more money screwing the rest of us.
Expect to see more people pushing back.”

“Are you a Mormon? If not, why do you have a problem with them? Why would you single them out, plenty of other church's believe and act the same if not worse. ”
“I was not trying to impeach your statement. I just noticed that you said you don't watch it but your comment seems to indicate that you do. I do watch his show a couple of times a week and I do think he can be rather smug and condescending to people he disagrees with regardless of gender.
I think you read much more into my comment than was there.”
“If you don't watch the show how do you know how he treats everyone else?”

“I have watched the show, I just don't watch it daily. If you can cite an instance of O'Donnell treating someone he disagrees with with greater deference because of their gender, then post the link - his interviews are available on MSNBC and YouTube. Why are you looking for some technical detail to impeach my statement rather than staying on subject? Ms. Ioffe has made the allegation of sexism without citing a single example proving her claim. Perhaps you should apply the same critical eye to her as yet unsubstantiated allegations, as that IS the subject of this thread.”

“Tommy never claimed to not watch the show. He said people who don't like the show shouldn't watch it.”
