Vero is an Italian treasure tucked away in between buildings in a quiet part of downtown Miami. If you are not paying attention you could walk right by this place, and trust me you do NOT want to do that. This location has half outdoor seating and a pretty inside dining area as well. The second I walked into Vero and looked around, I was transported to southern Italy, and I knew that I was in for an amazing culinary experience.

We were greeted by Paula who is the owner alongside her husband Paulo who is the chef, and immediately we were made to feel right at home. We decided to sit at the beautiful wooden bar, since it was early and all we wanted were a few appetizers. Paulo came out from the kitchen and started talking to us as if we had known each other forever, I found myself falling deeper in love with this place. We started off with a glass of Prosecco, but the wine list has some very good options at very reasonable prices.

We started off with the Crudo di Pesce Spada, which is a swordfish carpaccio, with pink pepper corns, Sicilian citrus, Italian wine vinegar, fresh herbs and orange sauce. The swordfish was fresh and sliced paper thin, which completed melted in my mouth and all of the flavors blended together perfectly! The portion was perfect for sharing! What came out of the kitchen next was the best, let me repeat, THE BEST burrata that I have ever had. I consider myself a burrata junkie, if the restaurant offers it I must have it. The homemade burrata from Vero was soft, creamy and the roasted tomatoes complemented it perfectly. I just couldn't get it in my mouth fast enough!

Although, we didn't try any of the pasta dishes, Vero is known for their homemade pasta, so I will definitely be back to try one some other of their dishes. Vero is one of those gems where the food is made with so much care and love. Paulo is an amazing chef and I can't wait to go back and try just about everything else on their menu. So, if you are looking for amazing, authentic Italian food, look no further, Vero is the spot.
