"Everything hurts and I can't move"... says a client of mine in her late 40s. This client is in shape, mentally as well as physically. Still, aches and pains are creeping in. What if this continues to get worse?

You have experienced that we are getting older. Like it or not, aging is difficult. You have spent your entire life being active, energetic, moving forward in your professional life or chasing behind kids. The focus was on everybody and everything else but not on you. Now you have more time. Exercise and your hobbies are on your list again. Yet, you are not able to enjoy your time, because you don't have the energy and you feel pain.

You try not to move; yet you don't feel better. Actually you feel worse. Sluggishness sets in and your systems are not stimulated. Also you aren't getting the serotonin that makes you feel better.

Food is becoming a comfort to your inability. Yes, you reach for chocolate and all other kind of foods with little nutritional value. Sitting in front of the TV and munching away with sandwiches, chips and possible alcohol.

This approach is not helping. Eating foods that are processed will not give you the nutrients that you need to help you manage your pain. Yes, exercise is a big part of it. Yet, you need to proceed step by step. Perhaps start by focusing on foods that help you to manage your pains.

Natural Painkillers

Here are 7 foods to add to your weekly diet regiment. They are easy to include. The reasons for adding them are:

1. Turmeric

The bright yellow pigment of this spice has the ingredient curcumin. Studies have shown that it has many anti-inflammatory actions. Individuals with arthritis have benefited by taking turmeric as an anti-inflammatory, without the side effect of drugs.

2. Rosemary

Think about what you feel when you smell fresh rosemary. Just the smell gives you a relaxation sensation. It is found to be good for headaches and can be used as an antiseptic gargle. It is interesting to note that it has been found that rosemary improves the circulation in the brain.

3. Ginger

This root is not just high in antioxidants but is also anti-inflammatory. To gain the full benefit, it is best to eat one raw slice daily or to juice it in your vegetable juice.

4. Garlic

Of course you must have expected this. Garlic contains many sulfur compounds, which give it its healing properties. Alright, you don't like the smell. How about the odorless garlic supplements available?

5. Yucca root

Not as common for many of you. Yet, if you go to any store that focuses on health you will find it there. Peel the root before cooking. This root is routinely prescribed for arthritis in some clinics. It is very beneficial in treating arthritis, osteoporosis, and inflammatory disorders.

6. Wild yam

Ever had muscle spasms? Many of you have experienced this particular pain. Wild yam relaxes muscle spasms and reduces inflammation. Just watch out that you don't buy yams that are treated with fertilizers and pesticides. Those may end up in the final product.

Warning signs are not to be ignored.

Still you need to find out where your pain is coming from. Most times pain arises because you are not taking care of your body, physically as well as mentally. Early warning signs have to be noticed and addressed. This can be as simple as feeling tired, cravings, low energy, digestive issues or feeling out of shape.

It does not take much to change. Yes, you can change and make a difference in the way you feel. This can be done simply by changing the way you think. Analyze how you think, what you think and why you think about issues, problems or obstacles that are thrown in your way. Think about this "What are you planning to do with this information that you read?" Implement it or let it go as you have let other information go.

It is up to you to make a change and to make your body your business.
