The Workout Bailout

Yes, you do have time to make time for yourself. Taking care of yourself can be as simple as improving your diet. Find something that you enjoy. Don't go to the gym when you don't enjoy it.

Alright, it is really enough already. A bailout there and over here. Soon I am going to ask for a bailout to be released from working out. Yes, please workout for me so that I can stay in shape, stay energetic and independent in old age.

Working out shouldn't be a chore: Something that you have to do; something because your doctor told you to; something that you just do because of it and while not really enjoying it.

If you feel that way then there must be something wrong. Either you are doing too much too soon or you are doing the wrong activity to fit into your lifestyle.

Was I ever in a situation like this? Yes. Working with clients at their homes, outdoors or in sports facilities, forced me to be in environments that became my office environment. I did not enjoy to spend my free time in my work environment.

The change came when I did two things: 1) Looked for activities that I really enjoy and 2) realized that it is not about the workout, it's a me time -- a Stefan time.

Find something that you enjoy. Don't go to the gym when you don't enjoy it. Pick up a sport -- volley ball, basketball, softball, ...or learn a new skill such as martial arts, yoga, trapeze, gymnastics ... the opportunities are endless.

And stop giving yourself excuses that you don't have time.

Yes, you do have time to make time for yourself. Taking care of yourself can be as simple as improving your diet. Perhaps you could start cooking v.s. ordering food from delis, Chinese food restaurants or fast food restaurants?

Kind regards,

Stefan
