The protesters at BYU are making great points against Dick Cheney delivering the school commencement speech. He's a liar. He falsely tied Saddm to Al Qaeda. He told a Senator to go fuck himself. He's responsible for outing Valerie Plame. But the best point, perhaps, was made by the head of the college Republicans:
"We're excited for the world to see what B.Y.U. really is," Mr. Lassen said. "No matter what you think of Cheney, he's easily the most powerful man in the world."
It's good to see a young Republican being so honest about what he admires. It's not about doing the right thing. It's not about making the world a better place. It's about power and the pursuit of power at all costs. It goes a long way toward explaining the moral poverty of the Republican Party.
