I moved to Brazil a little over a year ago, but it didn't take long for me to see that Afro-Brazilians face many of the same issues of racism and injustice as African Americans. After listening to their experiences on race and identity, I decided to film their stories and share with the site, Seven Scribes. In the documentary AFRO BRASIL, I spoke with 6 unique Afro-Brazilians about racism, higher education, culture and much more. Through in-depth conversations with black artists, entrepreneurs, educators and students, AFRO BRASIL introduces viewers to a side of Brazil and its culture that is underrepresented in international media channels, and also in Brazil.
