Venting About Debbie Wasserman Schultz

House of Representatives buddies Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL)

Starting at 10 a.m. today, a number of progressive blogs are going to encourage their readers to call the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to complain about the unwillingness of DCCC Red-to-Blue Program Debbie Wasserman Scultz's refusal to assist Democratic contenders challenging her pro-Cuba embargo Republican House of Representative pals Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, and Mario Diaz-Balart.

Here is a clip from the Washington Post's "The Sleuth":

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) is getting brutally walloped in the liberal blogosphere for refusing to endorse the Democratic challengers to three potentially vulnerable GOP incumbents in Florida.

Liberal bloggers are irate that Wasserman Schultz, who co-chairs the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red-to-Blue program, has declined to endorse the Democrats running to unseat Cuban American Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and his brother, Mario Diaz-Balart.

Wasserman Schultz says she doesn't want to stab GOP members of her own delegation in the back. But liberal bloggers say she's killing her own while aiding and abetting the enemy.

Just for the record, I'm not in favor of knocking out all Republicans either -- so perhaps I have a bit of the Wasserman Schultz sin in my own file. I was, for instance, supportive of Maryland Eastern Shore anti-Iraq war Republican Wayne Gilchrest who lost his primary battle recently.

But the Diaz-Balart brothers and Ros-Lehtinen are not moderate in any sense of the word, are embracers of Bush's wars, and have been responsible for sustaining a counter-productive embargo of Cuba by the United States that 183 nations of the world voted against us on this past year in the United Nations.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is helping to defend the political turf of not the best in the Republican Party -- but the worst.

If you want to join the effort today, feel free to call these numbers and express your own point of view.

I just UNsubscribed from the DCCC email list. This was done with an explanation surrounding DWS. I've had it with the DWS / HRC wing of the party.

She's the new Lieberman. She'll be working for McCain soon.

You supported Gilchrest during a time period when you were not a member of Congress with a leadership position on the DCCC, so I think you're OK.

I can't stand this woman, mostly because she's such an opportunist! If she does ever face a dem primary opponent, let me know who it is and I'll send her/him money for their campaign. And Nancy, take her off that Red to Blue committee, she doesn't deserve to be rewarded or get help to boosting her resume!

She refuses to support impeachment, even though she's in one of the strongest positions to do so: on Conyers' Judiciary Committee.

While her Democratic colleague Robert Wexler works hard to get the hearings started, she's in staunch opposition to him.

She's kissing up to Nancy.

The most unfortunate thing is, she has no competitors for her seat. At this point, she truly does not represent her constituents.

Are these the same "Liberal Bloggers" that are quite happy that Florida will not have a re-vote and have their delegates seated because their exclusion benifits Obama? When was it that liberal democrats started to care about elections in Florida or the Folrida voter for that matter? We know Obama will not deliver any Red states come November...or Purple states as he likes to call them. We also know that any chance of him delivering Florida, Michigan, or Ohio are as dead as the possibility of a revote in two of those states. To borrow a quote from Rev. Wright , Malcolm X and James Baldwin: Obama's chickens will come home to roost in November. Debbie Wasserman has every right to put her political future before the interest of the National party, as Obama has every right to put his presidential aspirations before the voters of Florida and Michigan. Politics as usual.

The issue is with her role as a DCCC leader in the Blue to Red initiative. If she's conflicted given her personal situation she should resign the position. And for the umpteenth time - Florida and Michigan gambled and lost. Your beef is with the leaders in your state. And if you live Florida, just look at Wasserman Schultz ... she's putting her self interests ahead of the party now. Sorry.

This is not about the upcoming presidential election. She co-chairs the Red to Blue
Committee and is killing South Florida through benign neglect by not supporting
three good candidates to help make Congress veto proof. That's the issue, not the
Florida vote, not Michigan, not Rev. Wright, not James baldwin, not Obama. There's no room for spin here.

Sounds like problem for Florida voters to address, which like so many problems down there involving the voters, will probably end badly, and in her re-election.

Too bad.

I was watching Ms Wasserman Schultz - impressed with her clear thinking and such during those little speeches at the eventide in the chamber.

So, she's just another pol, huh.

Too bad.
