The 8 Olympians the World Wants to Watch

Posted: 07/29/2012 10:08 am

More than 10,000 athletes from all over the world will compete at the Olympics in the next few weeks, making it extremely hard for anyone to keep up with who's doing what and when. So we wondered, just who does the world want to watch anyway?

So, with our consensus engine technology, Taleee tallied up world opinion and these 8 came out on top as the must-watch athletes. Game on.

Brazil's Neymar, a name many Americans may come to know after this Olympic Games. Somehow the best soccer/football (outside the US it's called football everywhere) players always get known by one name. Remember Pele?

Not only do I have no real interest in watching any of those individuals, I don't have a whole lot of interest in their sports as a whole at the games. I am following the sports I have (or still) participate in- Equestrian, archery, fencing and badminton

I'm more interested in the "little" sports for which the Olympics is the biggest deal. A sport like soccer (football) has its own World Cup. I am a bit surprised LeBron James is not on that list.

I'm interested in seeing the two American hurdlers who will defeat Lolo Jones.

That's right, she even pushed out her own teammate (Wieber) in the all-around during qualifying. Go Gabby go!

Gabby is looking so confident and solid.  She's clearly the best performing gymnast on the team right now.

Thanks for distilling these top athletes for us. It will be interesting to see what upsets--if any--occur over the duration of the games (such as Michael's fourth place finish).
