From The Detroit News:
A pair of right-wing radio hosts says there's only one choice for conservatives angry about government involvement in the auto industry: Boycott GM.
"Nobody wants to support an Obama company," Rush Limbaugh told his audience Friday, citing a poll showing that 17 percent of Americans backed a boycott of GM.
"Every dollar spent with GM is a dollar spent against free enterprise," conservative talker Hugh Hewitt wrote online last week.

Conservatives in Congress and elsewhere have criticized the federally sponsored restructuring plan GM will seek to execute in bankruptcy court.
The plan would give the federal government a 60 percent ownership stake in the company; lawmakers such as Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., have labeled that socialism.
The popular, controversial Limbaugh didn't outright call for a boycott, but said he understood why people would want to avoid GM vehicles. "They don't want to patronize Obama. They don't want to do anything to make Obama's policies work."
A GM spokesman declined to comment Monday.
But the Democratic National Committee, which has spent plenty of time in recent months cataloging Limbaugh's calls for the failure of President Barack Obama's economic policies, leapt at the chance to do so again.
Sen. Richard Shelby
"While it's not surprising that Rush Limbaugh would root for the failure of a national institution for partisan political gain, it is surprising that the other so-called leaders of the Republican party are silently going along with him given how many hard working Americans rely on GM for a living," said DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan.
So far, there is little evidence that the government's involvement is turning off buyers. In bankruptcy for the entire month of May, Chrysler had its best sales month of the year.

One thing to remember -- during economic chaos, people want more government in their lives, not less. During the Great Depression, socialism flourished and modern trade unions came into being. Even countries that "moved right" did so in ways that increased government involvement in both business and personal lives.
Most economists believe that failure of the GM reinvention would cause GM to collapse, taking with it thousands of suppliers and dealers. The economic shock would be substantial. So if you are rooting for less government involvement in the economy, you should be rooting for the new GM to get it right, and for the government to sell it shares back into private hands as soon as possible.
I have had many GM cars over the last 50 years as well as Fords, and foreign cars. GM cars were outstanding. I'm hoping GM reorganizes to make really great smaller cars with higher gas mileage. The attitude of companies towards their employees has changed drastically over the last 50 years and only the unions have been able to hold back some of the downgrading of the workplace. Money is free to migrate and people are not. This puts workers at a great disadvantage. We have a complex international system that President Obama is trying to re-adjust without throwing everything out of balance. It was the top management making wrong decisions that ruined pension plans etc. not Obama.
I know most Americans are rooting for the United States, its people, and its president to succeed. However it's fun to read the posts from all sides. And anger is OK as long as you don't really hurt anyone. Limberger is safe because he only rants instead of shooting. But I think he is stirring up those who will shoot. Potentially dangerous people can no longer be committed for serious psychiatric evaluation and treatment at state mental hospitals. Just imagine, 20 years ago a person acting strangely could be committed and get excellent evaluation and treatment even in a small state like Maine. I know, I was training in one of Maine's state mental hospitals in l992.
Sadly, that same care is not available for the average person any more.
So what? No GM? No Chrysler? what does he want us to do? Buy a Kia? How patriotic!
The last statement of the article is very misleading. Mr. Parker says "In bankruptcy for the entire of May, Chrysler had its best sales month of the year." It had its best sales month because the 789 Chrysler dealers who were terminated had to drastically discount their remaining new vehicle inventory because they would lose access to rebates and warranty work after June 9th. This deal forced on the Chrysler dealers and bondholders was economic violence instigated by the Obama administration. The general public is just starting to realize just how poorly the dealers and bondholders were treated versus the anointed, saintly UAW workers.

The story is from the Detroit News; they wrote the final line. However, I do agree with it --- because it's true.
Okay, Rush, we get it. Obama must fail. GM must fail. The economy must fail. The country must fail. You are one hell of a patriot! In fact, you're one hell of a human being!
Essentially, the far right's positions are-
1. cheerlead for America to fail
2. domestic terrorism
Rush, I would love for you to fail. No one like you that hates more than 50% of the population belongs making 50 million a year. Those salaries should be reserved for Real Americans (Doctors, Astraunauts, Scientists, Pilots (like Sully ) not a blow horn like you.
Talk about unpatriotic!
83% of people = nobody.
Rush never did pass math. Hey Rush, enjoy your 17%.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that Rush's mom had made a comment that he only went to 3 semester in college and failed all 3.
I just bought a new Jeep last year, but I wish I could buy another one! Just to help!
I'm so sick of these stupid people! They're not very patriotic, are they? Remember when the republican mantra was: Buy American?
Now they root for America to fail!
oh, but remember the years of the Repocrites calling any who criticized Bush, "traitor, terrorist lover" etc?
Actually I remember when Sam Walton was proud that his products were made in America
First he wants Obama to fail. Now he wants GM to fail.
Next?
The entire Middle Class. Count Porky wants to finish what his BFF Bush started.
Another example of Rush's true patriotism ...if I can't have it my way, trash it!
Who cares about the working men and women at GM?!? Not Rush, he is psychical representation of what the GOP has become: . Self-serving and elitist.
physical not "psychical".
I guess Rush will have to give up his snazzy Cadillac. This man is SUCH a mess!
Once again, the far right wears their hatred of America on it's sleeve.
It truly is amazing these guys ever won elections.
I love America. I used to love GM. My dad is a salaried GM employee--they have treated thier salaried workforce like dogs and thier UAW like gold. And now the government has sided with the unions and taken away my dad's healthcare, pension, and life insurance and let the unions keep thiers. I will never buy another GM car and I hope no one else does either. If you are truly a patriot you will look at the misery this company has bestowed upon it's workforce in the name of greed and you will not buy thier cars either.
The only reason the UAW has their benefits is because they were unionized.
Your dad got treated exactly how large companies treat non-union workers. It's not the UAW's fault they didn't get screwed right along with the others.
