It's hard to explain how people feel about Michael Jackson - but one thing is pretty clear, New York is mid way throwing a New Orleans style wake for The King of Pop.
If you have any doubt about the depth of feelings for Jackson, just check out this totally improvised street party that breaks out in the Village, as a crowd gathers to do the one thing that Jackson probably would have wanted them to.

Of all the tributes so far, and those to come, this seems to be the most natural way to do it. Watching it, was like watching his music finally released to the world, like a dove that was caged for these past years.
R.I.P.
I started crying all over again watching this video. Seeing people of all races peacefully partying together--that is the legacy of MJ. That is what he was put on earth to do. To sing and dance so well that the whole world stood still to watch him. This street party makes me think of this song:
If you look around
The whole world's coming together now
Feel it in the air
The wind is taking it everywhere
All the colors of the world should be
Lovin’ each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it’s all right
Take my message to your brother and tell him twice
Spread the word and try to teach the man
Who is hating his brother,
When hate won’t do
‘cuz we’re all the same,
yes the blood inside of me is inside of you

Seems like a fun time...I'm so glad that people are remembering him so fondly and having a joyous time doing so. I think it's a much better way to honor him,his music, and legacy instead of sitting around crying.
I agree. This seems like an appropriate way to mark his passing.
