Within minutes of the announcement of Ted Kennedy's dire condition, right wing websites allowed demeaning comments to flourish. The ones below come from Townhall.com, whose Mary Katherine Ham is Bill O'Reilly's chief denigrator of left-wing sites and their despicable bloggers and comments.
There were some right wing sites who deleted the more derogatory comments.

but good for the country. Will he have the decency to resign? I doubt it. What's sad is what he did to Mary Jo Kopechne.

I won't have sympathy for a man who left a young girl to die and who supports the "right" to murdering unborn babies. I never pray for ill upon anyone, but I also don't pity those who make evil choices

Now might be a good time, while we are riding a wave of righteous indignation, to remind ourselves that WE need to make certain WE act upon the same principles we espouse. The rightwing hate-fests ARE despicable! Not question. But I have also spent some good part of the past eight years tactfully taking to task posters on various sites talking about wanting to see harm done to George W Bush.
Let me go on record. I detest W. I am convinced that he is THE worst president ever.
That being said, I would *never* advocate or even tolerate suggestions of violence to him.
And remember Reagan? We had our share of @***es, too.
This is not to excuse their behaviour -- it is base and reprehensible. It is to remind us NOW, when it is one of ours, why we value principles such as respect for those upon whom misfortune falls.
All of us, both Rightwingers and "Sane People," need to hold to ONE set of principles ... and apply them to all. That's why we must NOT torture. That's why we must NOT invade privacy. That's why we must NOT invade other countries without reason.
And that is why we don't gloat and caper about like soulless trolls when tragedy strikes a public figure. We only demean ourselves when we take delight in such things -- whether we agree with their ideology or not. Today, it is a subset of Rightwingers.
Let's make sure it isn't us, tomorrow.
The "hate" is NOT part of what is great about this country.
If it were Cheney we would be doing the same.
Its true-at least for some of us....maybe most of us. The difference is, IMO, that Cheney and/or his ilk are soulless, evil, vile people who really DO hate anyone and anything that gets in the way of their personal profits. That justifies it for me. Its funny to me that all the "christians" (you know, the haters, not the real ones) buy into their BS, even though the Cheney-type people couldn't give a damn about their god at all.
Ted's legacy reminds me of a movie: "Bridge over the river quiet."
Cheney is not Ted Kennedy, and could never have worked on any bi-partisan bill.
It's just not in Cheney to do anything for the common good.
Dick is in it for himself.
Amateur hate mongers have no opinions of their own; they simply regurgitate the vile slander of the professional hate mongers.
What is something that will never happen, Alex?
The right or the left admitting to their own hypocricy.
Um...the right you mean. I just admitted to mine a short climb upwards.
