Will the Right Apologize to Gore... Or Skewer Scalia?

What will Iraqis think when they hear that a Justice believes that our laws do not protect innocents if they are foreigners? Is that the Democracy they are being killed for?

Last column forewarned the apologies to Michael Moore expected from the right-wing talkers. Now it looks likely that Al Gore will receive same.

Last month, radio's Lords of Loud tried an end run around the continuing news of Abramoff, NSA spying and, most of all, a sitting Vice President not being questioned by police after shooting a live lawyer. Fox News and AM talk centered the Shock n' Awe, "OMIGAWD" headline around former Vice President Al Gore making a speech in Saudi Arabia where he berated U.S. foreign policy under President Bush. Going to their fave talking points, they were dumbfounded that a former Vice President would go on foreign soil to undermine our President, not only emboldening the enemy, but putting our soldiers who are in harm's ways...in even worse harm's way. What a hypocrite.

Now we find that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told an overseas audience this month that the Constitution does not protect foreigners held at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

I've got to imagine that when the terrorists hear that a sitting U.S. Supreme Court Justice tells foreigners that foreigners, many of them who ended up being released years after they were found not as guilty as the Department of Defense and Justice Department thought.

What will Iraqis think when they hear that an American Justice at the very highest level our legal system believes that our laws do not protect innocents if they are foreigners? Is that the Democracy they are being killed for?

And won't the terrorists - who flag everything a Democrat says as a reason to kill our soldiers in harm's way even more - be playing and replaying the Scalia comments to embolden their ranks? And the terrorist enlistment boom that Scalia's words will result in? Don't ask.

But I certainly don't have to tell the radio good guys what they need to do to exhibit the character they say the Left doesn't have. I'm sure they'll be spending a good part of this week apologizing to Gore. Either that, or they'll take Antonin to task. I mean, they'd have to, right?
