...thankful for Sarah Palin and her pathetic ilk who put a face to the shallow bigotry and purposefully destructive machine that has defined the modern Republican party.

...thankful that people are finally figuring out how to spar with the bullying bullshitters at Fox News and kick their flabby, ideological asses.

...thankful for a president my kids can admire and think is cool.

I am thankful that a political agenda that serves no other purpose than to separate the very wealthy from every other strata in America is at least gone into hibernation. I am thankful that the greedy, hate-spewing roaches that play the "social values" card then turn on their truly loyal redneck, cracker, blue-collar, religiously devout followers by looking down on them has at least crawled back into their abyss. I wish them a safe holiday as well as a safe return, but I'm not under the delusion that they are doing anything to protect our free speech rights by occupying Iraq and bombing Afghanistan. Those are geopolitical goals cooked up by people in the highest reaches of the financial world who don't really give a damn about our troops or the people they kill, intentionally or accidentally.

A President that ACTUALLY seems to care about us.
For finding Season 7 of "Wings" so I can finally have something entertaining to watch on my TV. Sorry but that was a small "suck up" to Steven. I'm collecting the whole series.

Ideological, anti-intellectual bullies who had driven the Democratic/liberal message into abject retreat for a full decade, despite two elections which had to be stolen, & despite the clear preference of the vast majority of Americans for those liberal, progressive, democratic policies that have defined America's rise to greatness since the dark days when the Roaring Twenties led to the long trial of poverty & despair during the Great Depression -
"liberal", democratic, & progressive policies like:
- High wages that could support a family, possibly put children through college, & maybe a summer vacation or two...
- Access to health care, you know, so we wouldn't have to witness our loved ones die before our eyes
(Abraham Lincoln's mother & sister both died of illness before he was 20)
- the reasonable expectation that our votes will be counted fairly, & that the media will give an honest accounting of the issues & candidates' records...
- the right to know what our government is doing in our name, not some secret cabal that whisks presidential papers off to some private library & stamps "TOP SECRET" on OUR public papers....
- the right to have tax dollars OF the people,
