Paranormal on the Road: Searching for Weirdness Around the World -- My Five Top Personal Experiences

Posted: 07/31/2012 10:09 am

I have spent the last 30 years or so traipsing around this globe looking for paranormal stories and investigating weirdness that I have witnessed and experienced for myself. The planet does not disappoint!

I have traveled to all seven continents and explored places that most would not dare to go. I would like to share some of my personal stories with you here.

There are five incidents that stick out in my mind that are intriguing and weird, to say the least.
In 2009, I was asked to travel to Bolivia to research ancient sites and history. I was given a letter by the Bolivian government that allowed me to go anywhere on the archeological site of Tihuanaku on the Bolivian-Peruvian border. This was at 14,000 feet/4,500 meters in elevation. Breathing was difficult and walking felt like I was underwater.

My companion was a Bolivian archeologist who claimed that in 1982, he had uncovered a tunnel in the region that lead into a huge underground cavern. Inside, he and his team found a 9 foot/3 meter long cyclops in suspended animation, surrounded by a computer bank estimated at 15,000 years old.

When this was reported to the government authorities, they were told to bulldoze the entrance and leave it unmarked, where it supposedly remains to this day, waiting for rediscovery.
I was also shown a secret room in a building on the Tihuanaku site that contained a glass container filled with small elongated heads. I was not allowed to take pictures. Very frustrating! These mysteries remain unexplained even today, except for some theories that say that this was an ancient alien city.

In 2010, I traveled to Antarctica by ship. The Drake Passage is a rough body of water to cross, so I was relieved to finally enter the calmer waters of the Antarctic Peninsula. However, one of the stops was at Deception Island, an active caldera volcano that could blow at any time! What were they thinking sailing over a seething magma dome!

It was a bright and clear day. As we looked up at the crystal blue sky, two shiny UFOs flew directly overhead, seemingly watching us as we watched them. Perhaps they were wondering what a boatful of silly humans was doing floating over an active volcano.

Antarctica has a reputation for strange things flying in the sky. In January 2012, there were even reports on the news about a Russian scientific team disappearing near Lake Vostok while digging deep into the ice to see what was underneath.

Onward to Iceland where I travel every year. Here, there are numerous stories of elves, fairies and what the locals call "Hidden Folk." "Hidden Folk" look like humans and appear in homes that are built over or near "Hidden Folk" domains.

In one incident, a road crew was stopped in a rural area because their equipment was constantly being damaged. They were told by locals to make an offering to the "Hidden Folk." They refused. Their vehicles were overturned every night.

Finally, out of desperation, the work crew made a peace offering at the site to the "Hidden Folk", asking permission to continue. They were never bothered again and the road was completed.

Down in South Africa, where I just did a series of lectures, there are stories of many strange things in the Kalahari Desert. However, the strangest thing was taken out of the South Atlantic Ocean near Cape Town.

Fishermen caught a huge Great White shark. They strung it up on the dock and cut it open. Supposedly, they found the remains of a Merman inside who was holding the remains of a spear made out of the stinger of a sting ray fish. This event was documented on a show featured on "Animal Planet." I am still investigating Merfolk sightings across the world.
But, perhaps the biggest paranormal experience that I have is in my own home. It is ongoing and I have been writing about it for years.

I live near the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The area is known for its paranormal events and anomalous sightings of UFOs and animals that seem out of place. My home is on a ravine where a stream flows. There are also underground rivers that energetically create electromagnetic waves that rise to the surface of the ground.

Theories abound about such waves causing openings or vortices into and from other realities. My home is known for its ghostly activities and even appearances of beings that defy explanation.

On the third floor of my home, carpets move mysteriously, heating and air conditioning alter temperatures by themselves and footsteps can be heard in the middle of the night. When I ask whatever is doing this to stop, it does for a while. Then, after a few days, the fun begins again.

Do you have paranormal experiences? I would like to hear from you. Leave a comment on this article or contact me via my website.

What credulity. If you experience something yourself that's one thing. But if you uncritically believe everything other people tell you....

All these so called 'experiences' are just stories told to you by other people, or hoaxes you fell for. Ive been following your work for many years and you always fall for every little hoax out there and encourage your readers to believe them too, as they make you look credible. You need to come back to the real world and focus on facts rather than fantasies

Fascinating stories. I don't know if I believe but I love this stuff. It's entertaining and gets my mind off of the rotten real world for a few minutes anyway!

Stewart, your books are fantastic and I am an avid fan. I'm a skeptic but I still love reading your stuff. The mermaid story you exposed was amazing. To all the unknowns out there, you are a great!

I believe that ghosts exist. I worked evening shift at one of local hospitals for 14 years and I have seen things and heard things that just can't be explained in a logical way! That being said...I believe in Angels, also. If you believe in God...then you have to believe that the devil exists, too, as well as his ugly demons!

There have been way too many things that have happened in my 65 years on this Earth for me not to understand that some things happen that have no other source except one....Faith!

Maybe you should have done a little more research on mermaid sightings before posting this. You might actually have realized that the Animal Planet "Documentary" about mermaids was, in fact, a mockumentary. It was part of their Monster Week set and was very fictional. See: http://theclicker.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/30/11955621-were-you-fooled-by-animal-planets-mermaid-special?lite or common sense.

Granted, based on how many of these secondhand accounts you readily believe, I'm not surprised you fell for it.

However, my friend, I went to South Africa and confirmed the story! Cover-ups can sound very real, too.

''When this was reported to the government authorities, they were told to bulldoze the entrance and leave it unmarked, where it supposedly remains to this day, waiting for rediscovery.''

You cannot seriously be expected to be taken seriously in any way or form.
You have NO PROOF.
All you have are stories. Nothing more. What a waste of 30 years.
11:12 AM on 08/20/2012
How did you confirm it?
03:27 PM on 08/05/2012
All of these "incidents" are anecdotal and even second-hand. Not one iota of proof is given for any of them. On a scale of 1-10, with ten being the most reliable, your credibility score is -3.
12:32 PM on 08/15/2012
That's being generous. ;-)
01:27 PM on 08/15/2012
Well, no reason not to give someone the benefit of a doubt, even when it is a ludicrous as these things are. Let's award points for sincerity, no matter how ms taken.
12:54 PM on 08/05/2012
You all really love jumping to conclusions. It must be human nature to think "I can't explain this, it must be supernatural or the work of aliens" because a lot of people do it. Can't we just leave it at "this can't be explained"? Once that is established and we don't jump to improbable conclusions so hastily, maybe we could work out a much more likely explanation for what we see.

I'm not blaming anyone here for doing what humans do best, but we need to understand that we have a bit of a disability when it comes to things like this. If we know this, we would probably be able to discover truths that are even more exciting and progressive than what we blindly conclude.

If you read Madame Blavatsky, if she is to be believed, in the distant past humans were semi-flesh, semi-astral and then lived in caves; then in another period we were quite tall, i.e. a LOT went on as we marched slowly thru genetic evolution. Perhaps this is where all those myths originate- cyclops, half men/half beast, you name it!

For Christians and others who feel the Hindus' Ram was some fairly tale: The bridge he built on the west coast of India IS visible by satellite now finally (it's underwater).

I do believe there was an Atlantis though.

A young friend saw a fairy once and I believe her. I have felt and talked to several ghosts, but nothing unusual beyond that.

In the end it's all illusion. The world is nothing but illusion but still a necessary school we attend in order to grow in consciousness.

Only God is real. And God is beyond mind and so-called reality.

Myself, I have followed Avatar Meher Baba for over 30 years, and if you read his books, you get a sense that illusion's reality, this world, can out-Disney Disneyworld. He said once some 10,000-15,000 planets are inhabited by beings, most of whom are advanced intellectually. But it is here alone that they eventually travel to begin "involution" or to traverse the spiritual path......

Gods are not real, either. All of this is ridiculous nonsense.
12:34 PM on 08/15/2012
The very same Madame Blavatsky that was sitting under a tree with the Colonel, and received a message to start digging?

That one? ;-)
02:58 PM on 08/15/2012
uh, come again?! Listen, folks, it takes a certain amt. of courage to pen your thoughts on this subject. Give me a friggin break. Or post your opinions, experiences, etc. and allow us to shoot holes thru YOUR theories. My God, if we all just opened up a bit we might learn something. Just because you haven't experienced something, because it probably just isn't your time, or because you're friggin unaware and not on a spiritual path of ANY kind yet, does not mean it doesn't exist or is valid. There, I feel better. Or as they say in Franch, touche.....

No such thing as gods. Get some help.

LOL well no that's right there are thousands & thousands but only One Supreme one, as That One is identical to us too, Invisible, indivisibly small, sentient consciousness usually called a soul... However never Takes a corporeal form of it's own... which is why The Supreme is remembered as dying for us.. simply by never being subject-ed [not Royal] to entropy.. falling from perfection = to God as WE ALL do... But if you are a young or One birth soul you are unlikely to be able to understand. However when you have your Daram Raj/Judgement day a lot of the sorrow in those re-cycled moments will be due to missed oportunity as you were shown how too remember how we become Angels God's & Goddess souls but you simply did not ask your supreme parent if This is true... You see i don't offer you belief or faith, [not that there is anything wrong with that] i am merely pointing you to impirical fact that you will according to your own FREE will [your inheritance of which you decide how much you will recieve]... Those good old Christians don't say ask & you will recieve for nothing... however the question decides The answer of course... Be well all the best A (/0\) m. www.bkwsu.org

Tihuanaku sounds fascinating!

Are you familar with the work of Bruce Cathy? He was an Air New Zealand Pilot (and skeptic at the time) when he witnessed a UFO flying around his plane. The story was covered up....but this only convinced him to search deeper. He uncovered a "grid" upon which supernatural events happen. It is acurate as far as I can tell, but to be honest I lose him when he explains the math behind stuff - nothing new there! He is on YT.

There is actually a lot going on with Air New Zealand. One of the cases I worked on there was the pilot of the Air New Zealand plane that crashed in Antarctica killing hundreds of tourists. Apparently, someone altered the computer entries just prior to take-off without informing the crew. The crash was blamed on pilot error, but the family denies this, claiming it was purposeful sabotage because someone in power wanted to stop Antarctic overflights. My question--what did they not want people to see?

Bullsh*@t - the Mt Erebus disaster is well documented and there has never been any such claim made by the family of either Flight Captain Jim Collins or Co-Pilot Greg Cassin that the flight was deliberately sabotaged. The actual facts can all be found here

http://www.erebus.co.nz/

The only debate remains as to whether it was pilot error or a miss-programmed computer covered up by the national air carrier Air New Zealand.

http://www.erebus.co.nz/Background/TheFlightPathControversy.aspx

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_New_Zealand_Flight_901

Every single body was recovered by a team of civilians and senior New Zealand police specialists, with no report of anything odd. Mt Erebus is only 22 miles from New Zealand's permanent Scott Base which is staffed by civilian scientists year round and about the only thing to see in the area. No reports of anything odd.

I GREATLY resent one of my country's worst tragedies being used as the basis of some nonsensical conspiracy hokum.
