I spent three nights at the J.W. Marriott Ihilani at Ko Olina Resort & Marina on the isle of Oahu in the spring of 2010. Although I didn't have any celebrity sightings, I did spot Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard's ship that stars in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, currently being filmed in Hawaii.

The sailing ship was visible from Ko Olina, which has a view of the Kalaeloa Barbers Point Harbor, where she was being rehabbed and treated to a multi-million dollar makeover. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the fourth in the Disney series set to open May 20, 2011. It stars Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush.

Also opening in 2011 will be a premier oceanfront resort in Ko Olina. Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, is currently under construction, and the developers are branding it to be "a place for families to gather, reconnect and immerse themselves in the stories of Hawaii.

Aulani
will be spread over 21 acres, and the design will follow a Hawaiian village concept, including hotel rooms, Disney Vacation Club Villas, meeting rooms and wedding facilities. The setting features ocean views; white, sandy beaches; a cove, water garden and salt water lagoons for swimming and snorkeling; and lush, tropical foliage.

It's scheduled to open in the fall of 2011.
