Dan Millman was 20 years old, at the peak of his gymnastics career, when he shattered his right leg in a motorcycle accident. A competitive gymnast at Berkeley University, he was training for the World Gymnastics Championships as a potential Olympian, when he was told he might walk but never compete again. That's when he met Socrates, a gas station attendant and unexpected teacher, who meaningfully changes Millman's life. Inspired by true life events, Way of the Peaceful Warrior is a story about Millman's path to healing and spiritual awakening. With Socrates as his teacher, and some very painful lessons, Millman transforms from an ego-centric, competitive athlete to that of a peaceful warrior.

In the following interview, Millman says, "Socrates had something that I wanted." He speaks about the spiritual revelations he experienced after his accident and how he came to write, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, a book that has touched the hearts of millions of people.
