This legendary Five Star Swiss hotel improves with age. If you are looking for a superb winter or summer vacation set high in the Swiss Alps, you've found one - that's worth its reputation. The magical setting and stunning ambiance of the Gstaad Palace Hotel will keep you coming back for years. The 104 spacious and tastefully decorated guest rooms all have views of the Swiss Alps and if you are in need of even more space, book their two bedroom Tower Suite or three bedroom Penthouse. The public rooms of the hotel are done in a charming and inviting mountain chalet style. I particularly was impressed by the five restaurants of the hotel - usually a tell tale sign a hotel is commercial and touristy. Not the case here. Each of them has a distinct look, all of them special; you'll choose from Swiss and Italian specialties prepared by exceptional chefs. No need to dine elsewhere, but of course there are charming and wonderful restaurants in the vicinity.

Always among the top on the list of best Swiss Resort Hotels, the 'pampered' element of the new 1800sqm Spa and Health Club is impressive. In addition to spa services of massage, body treatments and facials, this elegant Spa/Lounge offers a unique two hour Hammam experience in 7 rooms, a private spa suite, gender separate sauna and steam bath areas, solarium, relaxation areas with incredible views, indoor and outdoor pools and outdoor Jacuzzi framed by the Swiss Alps. There is also a state-of-the-art gym and a Pilates studio. Book early for the Pilates sessions.

The Hammam is THE place to unwind after a day of winter skiing or demanding tennis drills at the summer Roy Emerson Tennis Clinic. Included in this serene ritual are a soothing foot bath, a cleansing soap foam body massage, a dip into the "Floating Pool" and lastly, a moisturizing oil massage. Your skin will feel softer, your body ? ahhhh, relaxed.

Getting to Gstaad is easy. You can drive or train directly from the Geneva airport. The trip will take a little more than 2 hours and Swiss train service is exceptional, making traveling by train fun again. Check www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm for information on train service in Switzerland. The Hotel is happy to arrange a pick-up at the Gstaad train station for you.

Come in the winter for snow sports or come in the summer to hike and play tennis. In either case, you'll come back! $600 + a night - Worth it!
