Older Woman Are Having Babies

A 66-year-old woman and a 70-year old woman have recently given birth, and now Jenny Brown, a 72-year-old who lives in London, is attempting to have a baby. She's been going through in vitro fertilization treatments since her early fifties. The reason she gives for waiting is, "My studies meant that children kept getting delayed." Brown is appealing for women between the ages of 20 and 35 to come forward as possible egg donors, explaining that by carrying the baby, she'll pass on her genetic material. "I believe the baby will look more like me that way." Does she really want to give birth to a grey-haired newborn with liver spots and reading glasses?

If this trend continues, the cost of fertility treatments could put a strain on Medicare.
