For a solid decade, Hughes could do no wrong. Regardless of the commercial success (or lack thereof) of his films, Hughes created a series of classics that an entire generation took ownership of, from The Breakfast Club to 16 Candles to Weird Science.

I cannot get the song "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye out of my head. It has a different sound -- especially the xylophone -- and strong lyrics that are clear and relatable.

Watching "Cherry Pie," all I see is Jani Lane saluting the callipygian Bobbi Brown. She's hot. So hot he has to "think about baseball" so he can swing all night with her.

What's next for John Stamos? I suppose there's a chance he'll pop up on Glee again, but we know he'll grace our TV screens this April, thanks to a guest-starring role in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU.

We could use a little more Stamos in our lives. By the way, I'd be totally amenable to making a cameo. You know, in case you were considering a Stamos vs. Stamos segment or something.

Eddie Murphy was funny. Miley Cyrus wasn't even born. Pirates were something you read about in books. The allure of the 1980's is the appeal of a simpler time.

Hughes's are not just movies about the mid-1980s, but movies set in the mid-1980s that now live as archetype and fable.
