Andy Parker, the father of slain journalist Alison Parker, went on CNN on Aug. 27, 2015, and called on politicians to take up gun control.
Andy Parker hailed WDBJ journalist Alison Parker, who was killed on-air in 2015, as his inspiration "to take a stand" in the spot launching a run for Congress.
"The NRA still controls too many politicians. There is no new meaningful common-sense gun legislation."
"If you won't support background checks, we'll find someone else who will."
WHAT'S HAPPENING
September 10 is a national day of action against gun violence.
"I know that this is not a sprint. It's a marathon."
Andy Parker is even thinking of buying a gun of his own.
Alison Parker's father says he doesn't want the country to sit back and let him grieve -- he wants action.
