"The National Guard going to college campuses, Kent State and elsewhere, did not end well, and I think that would be a very, very bad idea," Kaine said.
Student protesters are trying a new strategy to convince their schools to dump investments in companies tied to climate change.
"There's no such thing as having a perfect plan, but you have to continually be in the motion of creating a better campus climate."
"To say that I have a right to violate your civil rights because you're offending me is un-American. It is unconstitutional."
