Despite its severance with the NCAA, EA Sports is still on pace to break $4 billion in revenue this year. Yet while EA dominates the sports market, it has failed to appreciate the popularity of one the world's fastest growing sports -- lacrosse.
Most video games, like movies and other popular media, either entirely ignore female protagonists or marginalize, sexualize and objectify them. Boys and girls learn that as they grow older, females are invisible, distressed or simply accessories.
There does not seem to be any reason why a third party should be permitted to profit off of the student athlete. That is exactly what numerous current and former student athletes contend Electronic Arts has been doing for years.
