To find peace and happiness in life you have to be true to yourself, and herein lies Pastor Ted's conflict: Being true to himself meant being in absolute conflict with his religion, which was also his livelihood.

Some will say "No Name-Calling Week" is more accurately called "PC Police Week." After all, an offensive term over the dinner table might be applauded in a rap song.

You're terrifying lots of people with this Hell shit. So please, at least be more specific. Consult a thesaurus. Then come look sit down with me. Look me in the eye and let me know precisely what I'm in for.

It is so small, in such a long day of pageantry, on the first day of some long years of the fight ahead. In terms of the fish-frying before us, Rick Warren is a scallop, and Moby Dick is circling us.

Being able to "come out of the closet" is the first step. The more who do, the easier it will be for others. Nobody should be ashamed of any disability.

I have expressed my outrage at Rick Warren's elevation to the national stage. Yet, if the gay community has the courage to take a deep breath, there's another way of viewing this situation.

I'm trying to be open to the "we must talk to those we don't agree with" idea. Still, this is the first event of his presidency, and gay people's feelings seem so easily sacrificed by Obama.

The Rick Warrens of the world pretend that the Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman. But the Bible is full of men taking on second wives, prostitutes and concubines. And all the while, God heartily approves.

The radical shift in Powell's stance on LGBT issues should not give him a carte blanche. As chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Powell justified homophobia as a simple objection to a behavioral choice.

If Ms. Roosevelt was around today... would she have used the 60th anniversary of the UDHR the way gay activists have; and would she have endorsed a national boycott in solidarity with them?

In a bid to court conservatives, the duo seem to be teaming up to rid the state library system of all gay and lesbian materials, as well as those their church-based philosophies find objectionable.

In spite of Obama's election, what America has not given up and seems loathe to give up, regardless how far backward we move socially, morally, and legally, is religion.

Warren, a Baptist, knows better. The cornerstones of the Baptist tradition are adult baptism and the principle of liberty of conscience and the separation of church and state.

What gives the anti-gay marriage forces their influence comes down to moral hazard. If you run no risk sticking your nose into someone else's bedroom, some people are weak enough to go ahead and do it.

Much of the anti-gay-marriage argument rests on two assumptions: Life-long exclusive mate-bonding for purpose of rearing offspring is natural, and homosexuality is not. Both have little basis in fact.
