Finally, an honest costumed crime fighter film. None of that smarmy "hey aren't we smarter than the fans" shit or this "Above it all NYTimes crit stuff" -- this is a comic book fan's movie, one for those who used to draw their own stories in grade school.
Iron Man 2, entertaining as it is, and I like it, is a big missed opportunity. It could have been a lighter version of The Dark Knight, exploring deeper themes in a pop context with a more congenial cast. Instead, it's confused.
What is worth noting is that all of these male characters are basically users and abusers of their friends, family, and lovers. Yet Bella is attacked in various circles because she allows herself to be abused and used.
