Jake Gyllenhaal & Anne Hathaway Wear Merkins For Sex Scene (VIDEO)

Jake Gyllenhaal may not have broken up with Reese Witherspoon, but it's Anne Hathaway he's been getting naked with lately--while filming 'Love and Other Drugs,' out in 2010. He told Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night what his penis wears during sex scenes.

"Are you really naked or just movie naked?" asked Kimmel.

"We were pretty much naked except for a merkin," said Jake.

He went on to explain the Hollywood meaning of a merkin, historically known as a pubic wig worn by prostitutes who shaved so that clients could inspect them for cleanliness then enjoy the look of a full bush.

"In the sixteenth century prostitutes used to shave off their pubic hair because they thought that they had crabs, so they had fake pubic hair," he said. "So, when I told people I would wear merkins they would look at me rather oddly because they thought that I had no pubic hair, or maybe I had crabs."

Now merkins are "just a cover for your junk," Jake said, although they can have hair if an actor is incapable of the pubic hair growth a character requires, like Kate Winslet (NSFW) in 'The Reader.'

Kimmel Goes To A Barbershop To Get The REAL Scoop On Tiger Woods (VIDEO)

Feeling that most of the media has been reporting nonsense, Jimmy Kimmel was determined to get to the bottom of the Tiger Woods incident. His strategy? Going to the local barbershop.

Keith, the barbershop's clear-cut authority on the matter, laid it out pretty simply: "He just got beat up by his wife." Kimmel then attempted to break down the racial implications of the incident, but was cut off as the group acknowledged that "Tiger is not black." Kimmel countered, saying, "Technically Tiger's not black. But for golf, he's Wesley Snipes."

Michael Bialas: No Grinch will ruin Carrie Underwood's Holiday

The Fox network is wishing you -- the home television viewer -- a very Carrie Christmas. And they're gift-wrapping two hours of entertainment in a special package titled Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special that will air December 7 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT).

Of course, Fox, the network that brings you American Idol, has the gift that keeps on giving with Underwood. The country vixen from Checotah, Oklahoma, who broke through to national fame by winning the fourth season of A.I., has reason to be in the holiday spirit.

Her third album, Play On, was released November 3 (19 Recordings/Arista Nashville) and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and she's making all the talk show rounds this week, from Conan O'Brien on Monday to Ellen Degeneres (Wednesday) and Jimmy Kimmel (Thursday).

Last week, she completed her second straight stint co-hosting the Country Music Association Awards show with Brad Paisley, performing "Cowboy Casanova" in hot pants (one of her 10 costume changes), cracking jokes, and taking a not-so-subtle shot at Taylor Swift nemesis Kanye West ("Brad's idea," Underwood said on The Tonight Show).

If only those Grinches disguised as tabloid gossips weren't around to spill the eggnog. Underwood, during a Monday conference call to promote her special, took time to set the record straight when asked about the ending of the very entertaining CMAs last week.

"I just want to say that was really hurtful," Underwood said of tabloid reports and Internet gossip that she was miffed with Swift's runaway success that night and interrupted Paisley's closing comments in order to turn the spotlight back on herself. "My brain would never operate that way at all. I have so much respect for every single person that is in that room. Whether they're, I mean 'cause most of the people there are in the music industry. They are part of it. I would never dream of doing anything like that."

Underwood, 26, only received two CMA nominations this year, but had the chance to win Female Vocalist of the Year for the fourth consecutive time. The streak ended as the 19-year-old Swift won en route to sweeping all four categories in which she was nominated, including Entertainer of the Year. She became the first woman since Shania Twain in 1999 to capture the CMA's most prestigious honor. Swift's all-male competition included Underwood's co-host, along with Kenny Chesney, George Strait and Keith Urban.

At the end of the show, Underwood is seen hugging Swift in the background as Paisley takes center stage to wrap it up. "How 'bout that? Nineteen years old ... Congratulations, Taylor. What a night. I can't even imagine a better ... night than this."

Still clapping, Underwood returns. When Paisley briefly pauses after the word "better," she jumps in, "And how were we? We were awesome," she says with glee, offering a hearty laugh while the crowd applauds. Paisley ends with "Thank you for coming everybody. God bless you," while Underwood, smiling broadly and waving, adds, "Good night, everybody. Thank you so much. Good night."

It's hard to believe someone would mistake Underwood for a sore loser after watching that. Yet she witnessed a similarly misguided stance at the CMAs three years ago, when Faith Hill was taken to task for expressing mock anger after losing to Underwood in the female vocalist category.

Hill even released a statement through her publicist in response to her suddenly harsh critics. "The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me. For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving female vocalist of the year."

This time around, it was Underwood who had to defend herself.

"Like I said, my brain does not work that way ... And it was really, really hurtful to see such a great night and such a great moment be turned into trash ... And it made me sadder for ... I feel like stuff like that kind of takes away anybody's moment more than, I don't know, more than anything else. Because that's turning somebody's great moment into a tabloid headline. And it's sad."

And it's a shame Underwood felt she needed to address it Monday while closing out an otherwise joyous occasion. After all, her variety special should be worth celebrating. The show will include performances from her new album, along with previous hits and holiday classics. Guest stars include Paisley, Dolly Parton, fellow American Idol champion David Cook and -- for comedic relief -- Kristin Chenoweth and Christina Applegate. Earlier in the call, Underwood was asked about her relationship with Paisley, who performs on his own and with his CMA co-host for the upcoming special, although he couldn't be in Los Angeles for the taping. "Brad and I have a bit of a history together; I got to co-headline a tour with him not too long ago; he's just a great guy ... The more we're around each other, the more we get comfortable with each other. Things just get better and better ... It was a lot of fun co-hosting the CMAs again. I felt like we did a good job. I was really proud of both of us for managing to, I don't know, not cause any major problems (laughing, perhaps not knowing what was yet to come). It was just a lot of fun.

"From a host standpoint, it makes three hours fly by."

Underwood said two of her favorite moments on the special were with Parton and Cook.

Underwood was also happy to say "Hello Dolly" for the first time. Expect what she calls "an impromptu, fun moment," with the fun-loving country legend. "I never met her before this so I was so excited to get to talk to her and obviously get to sing with her. It was a dream come true," Underwood said "... [W]hen Dolly's there, you kind of step out of the spotlight, and let her do her thing because no matter how hard you try, she's going to steal the spotlight. Of Cook, 2008's American Idol winner, she said, "We sing together; the first time we sang together was last year -- was it last year? -- gosh, it seems like a long time ago. At the opening in Disney World of the American Idol attraction. They asked us to sing together and we did and it was like, 'Hey this is really good; this feels really good.' So, we kinda rocked out for a minute. And got to sing together again. It was probably one of my favorite moments in the show because I just love him to death."

She also continues to hold a special place in her heart for the show, even though it has been more than four years since she defeated Bo Bice for the title. Asked if she still watches, Underwood exclaimed, "Of course. I will always have just the biggest love for American Idol as a participant and as a fan. And now, you know, it's so crazy for me to watch it and think, 'Oh my gosh, I was on that show.' I love the people on it, I love the people working on it, I love to go back and talk to the contestants; and, I mean, I feel ... I vote, too, just like everybody else I sit out there and I vote. So it's great to understand being a fan and being a participant, I get to see both sides."

Among other recent American Idol performers, Underwood said she enjoys Season eight winner Kris Allen, who's from Conway, Arkansas ("He seemed really genuine and he was kinda from my neck of the woods"), and Danny Gokey ("just the sweetest person").

While her iPod includes everything from classic rock groups such as the Rolling Stones and Creedence Clearwater Revival to more eclectic choices, including Ne-Yo and Thousand Foot Krutch ("They're people that deserve more credit than they get"), Underwood also said it's filled with "a lot of other Idols."

Her Idol worship notwithstanding, Underwood offers firm words of advice to those alums still trying to make it in the music business. "Any contestant that comes off Idol that does well on Idol has to make sure they know what people voted for," said the blond singer who is the best-selling American Idol winner with more than 10 million albums purchased. "I've seen it happen a few times where people are one thing on the show and then they get off the show and try to do something else. And it's really strange because Idol is one of those things that ... they're telling you what they want. People are telling you, 'We love this person as is.' And it's the best testing forum that you can possibly have.

"So I think it's really important to remember why people voted for you. And, of course, cross your fingers and say a little prayer and hope that people dig what you're doing."

It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas.

ESPN's Steve Phillips is off to rehab for sex addiction, his marriage and career destroyed by his steamy affair with a production assistant. On the other hand, Dave Letterman's popularity and TV ratings have soared since his public confession of past dalliances with female members of his staff. Jimmy Kimmel's current romance with one of his staffers seems to be no threat to his job or reputation. These are the most recent romances to come to light - but certainly nothing new in the heady world of powerful, successful men.

Every day, in organizations both large and small, there are bosses having sex with women who work for them. It's not hard to find doctors who are diddling nurses; barristers boinking law clerks; professors enjoying extracurricular activities with research assistants; politicians of both stripes schtupping staffers. And who knows how many producers and directors are canoodling with assistants on their casting couches?

We all know why the bosses do it: Men love sex. Mother Nature hardwired males with a powerful sex drive to ensure that the human species doesn't die out. (And, you must admit, males are doing a damn good job!)

But many people wonder: Why do women do it? What makes a woman sleep with her boss - especially if he is already married? Everyone knows that men don't marry the women they have affairs with. And it's common knowledge that a man makes his reputation the same way a woman loses hers. The story of a woman sleeping with her boss seldom has a happy ending - so why are some women still willing to do it?

Here are a few reasons why a woman may let her boss dip his pen in the company ink well:

1. Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. Former secretary of state Henry Kissinger famously pointed this out when asked how a fat, ugly man like him always managed to date starlets, models, and other beauties. Power excites women - whether it's political power, financial power, intellectual power, muscle power, artistic or creative power, or sheer power of personality. Power is like catnip - women go crazy for it.

2. Men achieve status by what they do, while women achieve status by who they're with. Being married to a powerful man bestows the highest status - being the girlfriend is second-highest. But being the mistress has its own unique panache, intensified by its forbidden fruit dynamic. Being desired by a powerful man gives a woman certain bragging rights among her friends - even if she can't go public with her relationship. She feels special.

3. People are flattered by the attention of successful and/or powerful figures - women are no different from men in this regard. Who among us hasn't had a brush with someone famous and were thrilled by it? "Wow, I got to shake hands with the governor," or "Guess which celeb was on the plane with me?" It's intoxicating to have a powerful man pay special attention to you. For many women, it's hard to resist.

4. Enhanced career prospects, perks, and money can entice a woman into a sexual relationship. Exchanging sexual favors for money is known as prostitution in most situations, but it's called "sleeping your way to the top" when it occurs at work. It's risky, but some women are willing to run the risk.

5. Women want intimacy and trade sex to get it; men want sex and trade intimacy to get it. This isn't a bad system, all other things being equal. But when the man is the boss and the woman his employee, all things aren't equal. It adds a power dimension to the equation that can make the relationship exploitive. However, it never seems that way at the beginning - she just feels good that he finds her attractive.

6. Denial and mind games distort reality perception. A young mistress thinks "It'll be different with me - he really does love me. I know he does. He'll divorce his wife and marry me." She believes what she wants to believe. She can think of other men who married a secretary, assistant, or nanny - so her dream could come true, too.

7. Hormones cloud women's judgment. If she can resist having sex with her boss, she may be able to keep him at bay and still keep her job. But if she gives in and has sex with him once, she's toast. Her hormones work against her. With orgasm, her brain is flooded with oxytocin - a powerful hormone that acts like Crazy Glue, bonding her to him. She can no longer see him or her situation clearly.

8. Thousands of years of human history provide the back story to today's workplace affairs. Alpha males have always had their pick of the females - willing or unwilling. Kings had their consorts; knights and princes enjoyed plentiful fair maidens; the landed gentry had easy access to chambermaids and farm girls. Throughout history - and today - most women "marry up" in terms of class, money, age, and status, while most men "marry down." It's part of our collective unconscious - it's been going on for millennia.

So, what makes a woman choose to sleep with her boss? There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer for every workplace romance. A woman's reasons are as complex as she is. So perhaps we should let each woman speak her own truth about her life and her love.

After all, we've come a long way ... haven't we, baby?

'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Kim Zolciak and Nene Leakes visited Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night. They didn't make up, but they had a friendly dispute about the origins of the 'Tardy for the Party' lyrics (Kim's 9-year-old daughter was only partially responsible) and talked about the cost of Kim's hair ($12,000 a month, but less now that she is starting a wig line).

Kimmel also asked Nene a question from his mother, who is a big fan of the show: did Nene's biological father surface just so he could be on television?

"I don't know that he's my biological father. He hasn't taken a DNA test," Nene said. "I just suspect that he is." Nene and Kimmel talked about doing a DNA test on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

The 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' reunion show airs at 10 next Thursday on Bravo.

Jimmy Kimmel And Habitat For Humanity: Show's Staff Volunteers For National Service Week

If you've followed Impact this week, you'll know that it's National Service Week, sponsored by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) and iParticipate, and network television shows are featuring volunteer opportunities to encourage Americans to give their time to good causes.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live staff showed their support this week by volunteering with the San Fernando Valley chapter of Habitat For Humanity. The group helped build a new house in a single afternoon, and still had time for some typical hijinks.

At one point, Kimmel took a break from building to spray a layer of caulking chemical on Guillermo's face.

"Jimmy put his caulk all over my mustache. I don't like that," the second banana said.

At the end of the video, Kimmel encourages his audience to get involved with public service, and to check out opportunities through Habitat For Humanity.

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is reportedly "furious" that few viewers watched his appearance last night on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, sources close to the Iranian madman confirmed today.

Ahmadinejad, who is in the U.S. for the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, made a special trip to Los Angeles to appear on the late-night comedy show.

"President Ahmadinejad prepared months for this appearance, and even pre-taped a comedy bit with Ben Affleck for it," said a source close the Iranian leader. "When he saw those shitty Nielsen ratings this morning he put his fist through a wall."

But the official press release issued by the Iranian president's office today tells a different story: "Mr. Ahmadinejad's appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' trounced all the other competition in the 18-49 demo by a three-to-one margin, making Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the new King of Late Night." Jimmy Kimmel Sells Blagojevich's Seat For Over $10,000 (VIDEO)

It wasn't a Senate seat, but Rod Blagojevich sold it nonetheless.

A chair from the set of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" signed by the impeached former governor fetched $10,200 on eBay Thursday night after a week-long auction that saw 67 bids.

Last Thursday, while Blagojevich was on Kimmel's show to plug his new book, the host offered to let his guest sell the chair he was sitting in, describing it as a great money-making scheme that was at the least legal, even if it wasn't exactly ethical.

"You can do whatever," Kimmel said. "You can give the money to charity, you can keep it -- I don't care what you do with it."

Blagojevich made a counter offer, saying he would sell the seat if Kimmel agreed to hire three people who currently don't have jobs. A deal was made.

After the show, Blagojevich signed the seat that has held the bums of Tom Cruise, Mariah Carey, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, Shaquille O'Neal and Paris Hilton, among others.

One week and a $10,200 check later, the question is what to do next.

A spokeswoman for "Jimmy Kimmel Live" told the Huffington Post the show plans to use the money to hire three production assistants over the next six months. Kimmel will announce the sale during Friday night's show.

As for Blagojevich, the sale was not quite bleepin' golden. His publicist, Glenn Selig, told the Huffington Post Rod won't see a dime.

"None of the money will go to him," Selig said. "He'll never see or touch any of it."

Selig said he notified Blagojevich of the sale Friday morning.

"He was very, very happy when he found out," Selig said. "He was definitely satisfied."

Danny Groner: Jimmy Fallon's Valued Online Audience Returns Little Value

As online video becomes more mainstream and ubiquitous, rebroadcasts of television programs are likewise increasing in popularity. Rather than identify online video as a rival - a source for original Web series drawing advertisers away from more traditional TV partiality - television executives and producers have instead jumped on board to go after the online audience they would have otherwise missed.

But this cross-venture offers more than just a channel to re-air what ran the night before. Some TV personalities have even begun to imagine, write, direct and market specifically for the Web audience. Adam Sternbergh correctly points out in his New York Magazine article that "Saturday Night Live" stumbled into the viral video business that can garner popularity on the Internet that the show cannot match on television alone. Sternbergh argues that this is one area where late-night host Jimmy Fallon has already surpassed his competition and superseded his predecessors as he stays tuned into the virtual world and what works there.

Today more than ever, for any late-night joke, sketch or unusual interview, the goal is longevity. Staying power is a determination of the masses, who, if their palates are satisfied, will recommend a link, image, or video to their network of friends or followers. If television is where Fallon's ideas are hatched, it's online where they grow.

In the past few months since Fallon debuted, he's led regular and occasional features targeting, among others, an online audience that doesn't stay up for Fallon. Producers know that if one of Fallon's darts hits the comedy bull's eye, it could take off the next day. These viewers can sleep securely knowing that they miss something that night it'll be waiting for them the next day, just a click away.

And that's the growing power of the Internet. What may have once been perceived as useless opinions of others on their blogs has blossomed into standard practice in the wisdom of crowds. When Jimmy Kimmel's "Matt Damon" video first aired, I slept through it. The following day, though, a dozen blogs I follow had the video on their sites. Not only does this save time, it brings with it a level of collective scrutiny that weeds out the weakest material on late-night television.

And there's a lot of failed attempts through which to screen. Fallon, however, seems untroubled by the fact that, despite some videos showing moderate success online, his accuracy remains shaky. For every video he makes that goes viral, there are several misses. Yet once that winning ticket shows itself, it can propel Fallon to the top of late-night clicks and conversation.

What worries me about this model is that it seems to tie success in late-night television with online chatter and clicks. For Fallon, the goal is to stay prominent in the late-night battle. For a still unproven host like Fallon, these videos grant him the chance to show off some skills. To some degree, even in his fourth month on the air, he's still auditioning in front of the American viewers. But like everyone who has a video circulate through e-mails and on YouTube, you have to wonder what that's actually worth.

NBC hopes that those who see Fallon light up the stage in one of these clips will eventually find their ways over to the network at midnight. Whether these video clips make people more inclined to watch the show - and for NBC to see the accompanying advertisements - is left to be seen. In my experience, liking a segment here and there does not translate into getting behind the whole, larger product. Whatever praise is thrown Fallon's way for embracing the online market must come along with skepticism about whether it's a recipe for long-term success or just a series of profitless gimmicks.

David Letterman, on the other hand, doesn't operate this way. He relies on his charisma and talent to carry him through interviews and other segments. It's what draws in his audience of millions of regular viewers. When you set aside viral vitality in favor of the funny, charming and unpredictable television that Letterman consistently provides, there's no comparison or worthy online substitute.

The federal government has enlisted Elmo to help in the fight against Swine Flu. The beloved Sesame Street character was scheduled to do four public service announcements teaching kids simple hygiene practices, but a fifth more radical PSA was released last night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
