It's easy to believe that any time you take to relax or meditate is time that could be used elsewhere. But taking time out doesn't mean it is selfish or even wasted time.
We know this sounds so easy -- just be kind and loving, how great, what a cool idea. But in practice it's not always so simple, such as when someone says or does something that is personally critical, derogatory or hurtful. Can metta still flow when the ego-mind is upset?
Loving kindness has become my secret weapon of choice, for all the times when life gets a bit rough.
