ISIS has destroyed many of Palmyra's Roman-era relics, including the magnificent Temple of Bel and the iconic Arch of Triumph.
Activists said earlier that an Islamic State bombing extensively damaged the 2,000-year old temple on Sunday.
UNESCO has called the act a war crime.
