Okay, I'll admit it. When I first came to New Orleans back in the '80s, I didn't know much. In the 30 years since that conversation, I have leaned much. Now I live on the parade route. This week, I have seen some amazing Mardi Gras parades, including last week's Krewe Of Muses
Because I have a girfriend who is a krewe co-captain, and several geek friends who are captains, parade mistresses and ChewbacchanAliens, I have the privilege of being involved in watching various aspects of planning and executing this awesome parade.
Midori is captain of the Mystic Krewe Of P. U. E. W. C. (People for the Inclusion of Unicorns, Elves, and Winebots in Chewbacchus), a sub-krewe of the Chewbacchus parade made up of, you guessed it, unicorns, elves and winebots. Here are some things Midori and I discussed.
Atlantic City, the "Boardwalk Empire," is in high gear with the return of the Miss America Pageant. To listen to locals, it would seem as if Miss America were kidnapped back in 2006 when the venue was moved to Las Vegas.

Don't bother to get up at the crack of dawn to grab a spot along the parade route (mainly because people have gotten up earlier and beat you to it). Instead, go to Macy's Giant Balloon Inflation. It's a magical process.
The only question I had while visiting the US Coast Guard Cutter Eagle: Is it true the Eagle is haunted? Seaman Robles a fourth year Coast Guard Academy student and future Officer and my tour escort, just laughed and said "Maybe."
We live on the park in New York where there seems to be a parade at least a few times a month for every possible nationality there is. One of the biggest is St. Patrick's Day, which of course thrills my husband. There's nobody named Donahue who doesn't love a St. Patrick's Day parade.
