Reality television is a stain on our society and an insult to culture. It's dumbed-down television at its worst, lowest common-denominator.

What were the producers thinking when they cast DeLay in the first place? Did they believe that after seeing him do a samba, America would forget what a repulsive human being he is and embrace him in its collective bosom?

This was not a good week for public figures with notable heads of hair. The boyishly coiffed Tom DeLay caused jaws to drop all across America with his rump-shaking cha-cha to "Wild Thing" on Dancing With the Stars. Breck Girl-turned-Cad John Edwards saw his already-tarnished reputation further sullied by the release of details of his affair with Rielle Hunter, including a promised post-Elizabeth rooftop wedding featuring the Dave Matthews Band. And the idiosyncratically maned Donald Trump made headlines by allowing Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi to pitch a tent on his Bedford, New York estate. But it was follicly-challenged columnist David Broder who took the prize for the week's most ludicrous act: criticizing President Obama for "his determination to rely on rational analysis, rather than narrow decisions." God forbid. It was enough to make your hair stand on end.

Could Letterman be reaching for some of Jon Stewart's magic? And do stunt documentaries really change anything? Like the Ferrell video, are they only for the converted?

In comparison to all the good ACORN does, the House's action Thursday, specifically the role played by the Democratic majority, is shameful. It's truly incredible that Democrats aided in this travesty.

We need rope, lots of it, to let the right wing shark-osphere hang themselves in their xenophobic obsessions. Because what won't deter them is shame. There is no shame to these hacks.
