The Republican National Convention (RNC) begins today in Cleveland, Ohio. Sadly, thoughtful Republicans don't have anything to be happy about. And, realistically, the entire country should be worried about what's going down in Cleveland this week.

The RNC looks set to be a circus of fantastic, amazing, Trumpian proportions. This might be the classiest convention America has ever seen -- making America great again!

How reassuring.

Unsurprisingly, the list of speakers...leaves plenty to be desired. The RNC speech I'm most looking forward to is actor Scott Baio's.

Here's the RNC's bio for Baio:

Scott Baio is an actor and television producer. He landed his first starring role in the 1976 movie Bugsy Malone and is known for portraying memorable characters on several hit television shows, including Happy Days, Joanie Loves Chachi, and Charles In Charge. More recently, he has appeared in the Emmy Award-winning show Arrested Development and the Nick at Nite comedy See Dad Run, which he also produces. When he was young, Baio campaigned for Ronald Reagan, and in the 2016 GOP primary, he endorsed presumptive nominee Donald Trump.

That coveted Scott Baio endorsement!

Many well-known Republicans are staying away from Cleveland this week. If only Donald Trump could've gotten more endorsements from mediocre actors.

I was one of the people who acknowledged that Trump's name recognition might help him early on, but thought that eventually he'd fizzle out. I was one of the people who believed Trump had no chance. Like many others, I assumed that eventually Republicans would come to their senses.

It looks Trump really is going to be the nominee. It looks like this is actually happening. What a preposterous charade. Fueled by racism, xenophobia and dishonesty, Trump's campaign thus far has already been a disaster for both the GOP and the country. How terrifying to think that he could win in November. The man's policy prescriptions remain impractical and idiotic. In short, Donald Trump is a monster and the possibility of a Trump presidency should terrify us all.
